TRIBUTE PAID TO VETERAN JOURNALIST TVR SHENOY

ടി.വി.ആർ.ഷേണായി അന്തരിച്ചു

Veteran journalist T. V. R. Shenoy passed away on a 17^th April,2018,at Manipal hospital by 7.30 pm. He was 77. The body will be carried to Delhi, where the funeral will take place on Monday.Shenoy was Ernakulam Charai native. A senior journalist and columnist, he was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 2003. He had written columns for several publications including foreign ones, in his career span of five decades.Shenoy entered to journalism through Indian Express and has worked as the editor of The Week and executive committee member in Prasar Bharati. From 1995 onwards, he switched to freelance journalism.A financial-political observer, he had delivered speeches at many places including Oxford University. He was also honoured with the Alawite Commander Wissam from the King of Morocco.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, while condoling the death of Shenoy, remarked that he was the foremost Malayali journalist in the country."On account of his five decade professional career happening in Delhi, he was often the 'ambassador' of Kerala in Delhi," he said, adding that while people differed with him on political aspects of his writings, he was always highly-respected by all.Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala said that he has lost an "elder brother" as he, while being an MP, always used to discuss various issues with Shenoy, who was a friend, philosopher and guide to him.He was survived by his wife Sarojam and children Sujatha and Ajith

പ്രമുഖ മാധ്യമപ്രവർത്തകൻ ടി.വി.ആർ.ഷേണായി(77) അന്തരിച്ചു. വൈകിട്ട് ഏഴരയോടെ മണിപ്പാൽ ആശുപത്രിയിലായിരുന്നു അന്ത്യം. സരോജമാണു ഭാര്യ. സുജാത, അജിത് എന്നിവരാണ് മക്കൾ. എറണാകുളം ചെറായി സ്വദേശിയായ ഷേണായി ദീർഘകാലം മലയാള മനോരമ ഡൽഹി ബ്യൂറോ ചീഫും പിന്നീട് ‘ദ് വീക്ക്’ വാരിക എഡിറ്ററുമായിരുന്നു. ഇന്ത്യൻ എക്സ്പ്രസിലൂടെ പത്രപ്രവർത്തനരംഗത്ത് വന്നു. 1990–92  കാലയളവിൽ ‘സൺഡേ മെയിൽ’ പത്രത്തിന്റെ എഡിറ്ററായും സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു. പ്രസാർ ഭാരതി നിർവാഹണ സമിതിയംഗമായിരുന്നു.1965–ൽ ഡൽഹി ബ്യൂറോയിൽ ചേർന്ന അദ്ദേഹം കാൽനൂറ്റാണ്ടോളം മലയാള മനോരമയിൽ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.

അഞ്ചു പതിറ്റാണ്ടോളം സജീവപത്രപ്രവർത്തകനായിരുന്ന ഷേണായി സാമ്പത്തിക–രാഷ്ട്രീയ നിരീക്ഷകൻ എന്ന നിലയിലും ശ്രദ്ധനേടി. വിദേശപത്രങ്ങളക്കം നിരവധി പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണങ്ങളിൽ കോളങ്ങൾ എഴുതി. വിവിധ വിഷയങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് ആഴത്തിലുളള വിശകലനം നടത്തുമ്പോഴും അനുപമമായ ആഖ്യാനശൈലി നിലനിർത്താൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് കഴിഞ്ഞു.

ഓക്സ്ഫഡ് സർവകലാശാലയടക്കം വിവിധ വേദികളിൽ സാമ്പത്തിക–രാഷ്ട്രീയവിഷയങ്ങളിൽ പ്രഭാഷണങ്ങൾ നടത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. 2003–ൽ പത്മഭൂഷൺ ബഹുമതിക്ക് അർഹനായി. മൊറോക്കോ രാജാവിന്റെ ഉന്നത ബഹുമതിയായ ‘അലാവിറ്റ കമാണ്ടർ വിസ്ഡം’ പുരസ്കാരം ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ദേശീയ- അന്തർദേശീയ തലങ്ങളിൽ ഏറ്റവും ശ്രദ്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ട മലയാളി പത്രപ്രവർത്തകനായിരുന്നു ടി.വി. ആർ ഷേണായി എന്ന്  മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പിണറായി വിജയൻ അനുശോചനക്കുറിപ്പിൽ പറഞ്ഞു. ഗഹനമായ ദേശീയ-അന്തർദേശീയ പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ വായനക്കാർക്കു മുമ്പിൽ ലളിതമായും ഉൾക്കാഴ്ചയോടെയും അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിൽ അദ്ദേഹം അന്യാദൃശമായ പാടവം പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു. അഞ്ച് പതിറ്റാണ്ട് ഡൽഹി കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ച് പ്രവർത്തിച്ച അദ്ദേഹം കേരളത്തിന്റെ അംബാസഡറായാണ് അറിയപ്പെട്ടത്. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ രാഷ്ട്രീയ നിലപാടുകളോട് വിയോജിപ്പുള്ളവർ പോലും പത്രപ്രവർത്തന മേഖലയ്ക്ക് അദ്ദേഹം നൽകിയ സംഭാവനകളെ വിലമതിക്കും.  പത്രപ്രവർത്തനരംഗത്തെ പുതുതലമുറയ്ക്ക് ഗുരുസ്ഥാനീയനെയാണ് നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടതെന്നും മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു.പ്രമുഖ മാധ്യമപ്രവർത്തകൻ ടി.വി.ആർ.ഷേണായിയുടെ  വേർപാടിൽ  കേരള കാവ്യകലാ സാഹിതിയുഅനുശോചനം
