A website
for Civil Services aspirants (Kerala)
Giving wings to the
Civil Services dream of many in the State is a website that was launched
recently.www.pathaayam.inaims at making the study of Malayalam easier for Civil
Services aspirants. It has been borne of the observation that in the past many
years, those bagging top ranks in the Civil Services examinations had opted for
Malayalam as their main subject, says Alice Reeja Fernandes, part of the
three-women team behind the initiative. The others are Saumya P.R. and Sreeja
Sanal.
Besides ease of
expression, a definite syllabus and a question paper pattern that has not
changed for some years make Malayalam a good bet for the exams, says Alice. And
this is where the website, which was launched by Director of Public Instruction
K.V. Mohan Kumar, comes in.
“There is a pattern to
the questions asked by the Union Public Service Commission after the syllabus revision
of 2011. Being familiar with it helps score high marks, leading to overall
improvement in grades,” says Alice who has taught in a couple of Civil Services
coaching institutes in Ernakulam.Pathaayam functions under the guidance of
littérateur and critic M.K. Sanoo. The website offers free access to study
materials and online tests, besides an individual feedback section, to gear up
for the Civil Services mains, to be held in December.
The syllabus and its
analysis are available on the website, besides previous years’ questions. The
first mock test is over, and the second is scheduled for November 27. Pathaayam
will also provide individual guidance after the test.
Audio classes by
expert teachers are available, and video content will be uploaded by January.
There are also plans to include seminars on related topics. Talks are also on
to rope in those whose works are part of the syllabus.
Punnellu, the blog on
the website, gives updates on Malayalam-related developments and other aspects.
