World must unite against terror: PM Narendra Modi at BRICS
meeting in Turkey

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the world "stands united" in condemning the dreadful Paris attacks in which suspected Islamic State gunmen massacred nearly 130 people and injured many others on Friday.Speaking at a BRICS meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, being held in the backdrop of the Paris attacks, PM Modi said, "We stand united in strongly condemning the dreadful attacks in Paris. The entire humanity must stand together and be one against terrorism."
Modi, who reached Antalya late last night from
London after his three-day visit to the United Kingdom, tweeted he would
"meet world leaders and discuss global economic and security issues".
Hours before the summit began, suspected Islamic State militants also targeted
Turkey with two strikes, including a suicide bombing, reported from the
southern part of the country.The official agenda at the G20 Summit is
likely to be overshadowed by a series of intense meetings the world leaders
will hold on the Paris terror attacks, the Syrian civil war, the refugee crisis
in Europe, and the growing threat of terror group, the Islamic State.At
the BRICS meeting, Modi said the attacks in Paris and Beirut "remind us of
terror's growing spread and impact". "The need for a united global
effort to fight terrorism had never been more urgent. This must also be a
priority for BRICS," he said.
Modi said India attaches highest importance to
BRICS. "There was a time when the logic of BRICS and its lasting capacity
were being questioned ... We want to build on the great work done by other
members of the group," he said.BRICS is an acronym for Brazil,
Russia, India, China and South Africa, a group of developing or newly-industrialized
countries formed in 2009. The group represents over 3 billion people or over 40
per cent of the world population.

പാരീസ് ആക്രമണം ശക്തമായ ഭാഷയില് അപലപിക്കുന്നുവെന്നും പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു. തീവ്രവാദത്തിനെതിരെ മനുഷ്യരാശി ഒരുമിക്കേണ്ട സമയമാണിതെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്ത്തു. 2016 ഫെബ്രുവരി ഒന്നിന് ബ്രിക്സ് ചെയര്മാന്ഷിപ്പ് ഏറ്റെടുക്കുന്ന ഇന്ത്യ തീവ്രവാദം അടിച്ചമര്ത്തുന്നതിന് പ്രഥമ പരിഗണന നല്കുമെന്നും പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്ത്തു.ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്ക് പുറമെ ബ്രിക്സ് അംഗരാജ്യങ്ങളെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിച്ച് റഷ്യന് പ്രസിഡന്റ് വ്ളാദിമിര് പുടിന്, ചൈനീസ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് സീ ജിങ് പിങ്, ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കന് പ്രസിഡന്റ് ജേക്കബ് സുമ, ബ്രസീല് പ്രസിഡന്റ് ദില്മാ റൂസഫ് എന്നിവരും കൂടിക്കാഴ്ചയില് പങ്കെടുത്തു. സീനായില് വിമാനം തര്ന്ന് മരിച്ച റഷ്യക്കാര്ക്കും ബ്രിക്സ് രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങള് അനുശോചനം രേഖപ്പെടുത്തി. അങ്കാറ, ബെയ്റൂട്ട് സംഭവങ്ങളിലും ബ്രിക്സ് ആശങ്ക പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു.
