RESIDENTS FLEE SHARJAH TOWER BLOCK BURNING FIRE

ഷാര്‍ജയില്‍ 32 നില പാര്‍പ്പിടസമുച്ചയത്തില്‍ തീപ്പിടിത്തം

 Residents were forced to flee their homes on Thursday after flames were seen spreading up the outside of their 32-storey tower block.Plumes of black smoke could be seen pouring from the Abdul Naser building in King Faisal Road, Sharjah, from miles around.Civil defence, ambulances and police were called to the fire at 1.37pm and rescue workers immediately began to evacuate the building.No one was badly injured in the blaze but some people were treated for panic attacks and breathing difficulties.Egyptian Ahmad Sami, who lives on the 19th floor, said he went outside after smelling smoke and saw the flames.

He shouted to his family that they should leave their flat. “I grabbed my daughter and left the apartment with my wife.”Saleh Al Abed was among the tenants who rushed down the stairs to escape the fire. “I told my mother and she took my twin sisters and left the apartment,” the 14-year-old said.Marwa Ahmad was in shock as she waited for civil defence officials to give the all-clear for tenants to return to their homes.“It was terrible,” she said. “There was smoke everywhere.”Eyad Al Teimary, a Palestinian who lives on the 20th floor, said he rushed home after hearing of the fire. “My wife was evacuated from the building.”A spokesman for Sharjah Civil Defence said crews from Saja, Humeriah and Muweileh, with support from Ajman and Dubai Civil Defence and Sharjah Municipality, tackled the fire.“There were many cases of residents that had shortness of breath. Emergency crews offered assistance to residents.”Nineteen people were treated for breathing difficulties, while 200 families were left homeless and were being cared for by Emirates Red Crescent.ഷാര്‍ജയില്‍ 32 നില പാര്‍പ്പിടസമുച്ചയത്തിന് തീപിടിച്ചു. കിങ് ഫൈസല്‍ സ്ട്രീറ്റ്, അല്‍വാഹ്ദ റോഡ് എന്നിവയുമായി ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന പാലത്തിന് സമീപത്തുള്ള കെട്ടിടത്തിനാണ് തീപിടിച്ചത്. നൂറോളം ഫ്ലറ്റുകള്‍ക്ക് നാശമുണ്ടായതായാണ് പ്രാഥമികവിവരം. ആളപായമുള്ളതായി അറിവില്ല.ഷാര്‍ജ പോലീസും സിവില്‍ ഡിഫന്‍സ് വിഭാഗവും ചേര്‍ന്ന് കെട്ടിടത്തിലെ താമസക്കാരെ ഹെലിക്കോപ്റ്റര്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് രക്ഷപ്പെടുത്തി. തീപ്പിടിത്തത്തെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് ചിലര്‍ക്ക് ശ്വാസതടസ്സം അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടു. ഇവര്‍ക്ക് ഓക്‌സിജന്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള പ്രാഥമികചികിത്സ നല്കി. തീപ്പിടിത്തത്തിന്റെ കാരണം അറിവായിട്ടില്ല. വ്യാഴാഴ്ച ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് രണ്ടുമണിയോടെയാണ് തീപിടിച്ചത്. മുകളിലേക്ക് ആളിക്കത്തിയ തീ മൂന്നുമണിക്കൂറോളം കെട്ടിടത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാനഭാഗങ്ങളിലേക്ക് പടര്‍ന്നു.

ഷാര്‍ജ സിറ്റി സെന്ററിന് എതിര്‍വശത്തായി(അല്‍മജാസ് ഏരിയ ) സമ്പന്നരുടെ താമസകേന്ദ്രമാണിത്. ആറുനിലകളിലായി പാര്‍ക്കിങ് സൗകര്യമുള്ള കെട്ടിടത്തില്‍ 26 നിലകളും താമസക്കാര്‍ക്കായി നീക്കിവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ജിം, സ്വിമ്മിങ് പൂള്‍ സൗകര്യങ്ങളോടുകൂടിയ കെട്ടിടത്തില്‍ സ്വദേശികളും താമസിക്കുന്നു. തീപ്പിടിത്തമുണ്ടായപ്പോള്‍ത്തന്നെ സിവില്‍ ഡിഫന്‍സ് വിഭാഗം കെട്ടിടത്തിലെ വൈദ്യുതിബന്ധം വേര്‍പെടുത്തിയത് കൂടുതല്‍ അപകടം ഒഴിവാക്കാന്‍ സഹായകരമായി.കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ ദൂരത്തില്‍ പുകപടലം കാണാമായിരുന്നു. തീപ്പിടിത്തത്തിനെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് കിങ് ഫൈസല്‍ സ്ട്രീറ്റ്, അല്‍വാഹ്ദ റോഡ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളില്‍ വന്‍ ഗതാഗതതടസ്സം അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടു.
