URI AFRICA SIGNS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

1. With AUC on interfaith and intercultural dialogue in Africa

The African Union Commission and URI Africa have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance interfaith and inter-cultural dialogue in Africa.

The event that was held in May at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa was presided over by Dr. Jinmi Adisa, the Director of Civil Society and Diaspora (CIDO) of the African Union Commission and Ambassador Mussie Hailu, the URI Director for Africa.

The AUC and URI-Africa will now cooperate in promoting peaceful
co-existence among followers of different religions and cultures in Africa, implement jointly the declaration of the African Union Interfaith Dialogue Forum as well as helping religious leaders in Africa, understand their role in promoting inter-religious cooperation according to the teachings of the Golden Rule. Different religions and interfaith organizations in Africa will also work together on Agenda 2063 and post 2015 development goals.

Dr. Adisa commended URI in its efforts to foster cooperation between people of different faiths and traditions.
