US School Bans Girls From Wearing Jeans

കേരളത്തിൽ ഗാനഗന്ധർവൻ യേശുദാസ് കൊളുത്തി വിട്ട ജീൻസ് വിവാദം വിദേശമാധ്യമങ്ങളുടെ വരെ ശ്രദ്ധയാകർഷിച്ചിരിക്കെ വളരെ ശ്രദ്ധേയമായൊരു വാർത്തയാണ് ഇപ്പോൾ യു.എസിൽ നിന്നും വന്നിരിക്കുന്നത്. യു.എസിലെ ഒരു സ്കൂളിൽ കുട്ടികൾ ലെഗ്ഗിൻസുകളും, യോഗാ പാന്റുകളും, സ്ക്വിന്നി ജീൻസുകളും അണിയുന്നത് നിരോധിച്ചു. നോർത്ത് ഡെക്കോട്ടയിലെ ഡെവിൾസ് ലേയ്ക്കിലുള്ള സ്കൂളാണ് വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക് പുതിയ ഡ്രസ് കോഡ് തയ്യാറാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.

അധ്യാപകരുടെയും മറ്റ് വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളുടെയും ശ്രദ്ധ തിരിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നതിനാണ് പുതിയ തീരുമാനമെന്നാണ് സ്കൂൾ പ്രിൻസിപ്പാൾ പറയുന്നത്. എന്തായാലും പുതിയ നിയമം വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക് അത്ര പിടിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. എല്ലാവരും ധരിക്കുന്ന ഈ വേഷത്തിൽ എന്താണിത്ര മോശം പറയാനുള്ളതെന്ന് സ്കൂളിലെ മുതിർന്ന വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയായ മരിയാ ഫിക്സൻ ചോദിക്കുന്നു. തങ്ങളുടെ എല്ലാ വസ്ത്രങ്ങളും ജീൻസാണ്. ധരിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് കംഫർട്ടബിളായ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കാൻ അനുവദിക്കണമെന്നാണ് ഇവരുടെ വാദം.  ഗൗരവപരമായ കാര്യങ്ങളിൽ ശ്രദ്ധ ചെലുത്താതെ ജീൻസും യോഗ പാന്റുകളും നിരോധിക്കുന്നതിലാണ് സ്കൂൾ അധികൃതർ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുന്നതെന്നും തങ്ങൾക്ക് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന വസ്ത്രങ്ങളിടണമെന്നും വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളും പറയുന്നു. 

പ്രെറ്റി വിമൻ എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ വീഡിയോ കണ്ട ശേഷം സ്കൂളിലെ വിദ്യാർത്ഥിനികൾ അതിലെ കേന്ദ്ര കഥാപാത്രത്തെപ്പോലെ വേഷം കെട്ടി നടക്കുകയായിരുന്നെന്ന് സ്കൂൾ അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് പ്രിൻസിപ്പാൾ ആരോപിച്ചു. അതേ സമയം പുതിയ തീരുമാനങ്ങൾ പെൺകുട്ടികളുടെ നന്മയ്ക്ക് വേണ്ടിയാണെന്നും ആൺകുട്ടികളുടെ ശ്രദ്ധ ക്ലാസിലുള്ള പഠനത്തിലല്ലാതെ മറ്റ് വിഷയങ്ങളിലേക്ക് തിരിയാതിരിക്കാനാണെന്നും അവർ വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

Now, a high school in North Datoka joins the list of schools, having banned the skin-tight bottoms as well. According to Valley News Live, an assistant principal at Devils Lake High school banned leggings and anything else like it, including tight jeans and jeggings, on the basis that males—teenage students and male teachers—were apparently unable to focus on their schoolwork around girls wearing these items of clothing. Hilariously, and strangely enough, the school used two clips of Julia Robert’s character, a prostitute, from the movie Pretty Woman to illustrate the dangers of tight-fitting clothes, like leggings.An English teacher also told students that their tight apparel made them look like “prostitutes walking the streets.” And although the vice principal was fine with Pretty Womancomparisons, she admitted "that that teacher probably shouldn't have said what she did,” reports Valley News Live.

 A North Dakota high school is cracking down on yoga pants, skinny jeans and leggings.All are banned under the new dress code at Devils Lake High School.The assistant principal says the new dress code is a way to prevent distracting teachers and other students.
