Dada Saheb Phalke Award winner and doyen of
Telugu cinema, legendary actor and producer Nageswara Rao (fondly
called ANR), died in the early hours in Hyderabad On 22nd
January,2014.He was 91.Battling cancer for years, Mr Rao had an acting career spanning 75 years and
had acted in the lead role as hero in 240 Telugu films apart from working in
several Tamil films as well.He was honoured with India's second highest
civilian award Padma Vibhushan in 2011. He was also honoured with Padma Shri.He
is credited with being a pioneer in shifting Telugu film industry from then
Madras to Hyderabad. He
established Annapurna studios and his son Nagarjuna , daughter-in-law Amala and
several grandsons followed in ANR's footsteps to become actors.

91 വയസായിരുന്നു. വര്ഷങ്ങളായി ക്യാന്സര് ബാധിതനായിരുന്നു. ബുധനാഴ്ച പുലര്ച്ചെയായിരുന്നു മരണം.75
വര്ഷത്തോളം തമിഴ്, തെലുങ്ക് ചലച്ചിത്ര ലോകത്ത് സജീവമായ സാന്നിധ്യമായിരുന്ന എ.എന് .ആര്
240 ഓളം ചലച്ചിത്രങ്ങളില് അഭിനയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. സ്ത്രീകള്ക്ക് അഭിനയം നിഷേധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന കാലത്ത് നിരവധി സ്ത്രീവേഷങ്ങള് കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്തും ഇദ്ദേഹം പ്രേക്ഷകരെ അമ്പരിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
2011 ല് ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന് രാജ്യം പത്മവിഭൂഷന് നല്കി ആദരിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഒപ്പം ഇന്ത്യയിലെ പരമോന്നത ചലച്ചിത്ര പുരസ്കാരമായ ദാദ സാഹിബ് ഫാല്ക്കേ പുരസ്കാരവും ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ടോളിവുഡ് സൂപ്പര്സ്റ്റാര് നാഗാര്ഞ്ജുന മകനാണ്. അനുപമ സ്റ്റുഡിയോസ് എന്ന പേരില് ഒരു നിര്മ്മാണ സ്റ്റുഡിയോ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിനുണ്ട്.
