CATHOLICATE CENTENARY CLERGY MEET
Metropolitan and Catholicos of
the East Baselius Mar Thoma Paulose-II inaugurated the clergy meet held as part
of the Catholicate centenary celebrations of the Malankara Orthodox Church at
St Mary’s Orthodox Cathedral at Puthenkavu, near Chengannur, on Tuesday.4th
December,2012.Thomas Mar Athanaseus, Metropolitan of the Chengannur diocese of
the church, presided the inaugural function.
A symposium on ‘Catholicate, symbol of
freedom and nationality’ was held as part of the celebrations. Mathews Mar
Savarios, secretary of the Church Synod, was the moderator. Elias Cherukad, Fr
Jose John, and M. Kurien Thomas presented papers.The ancient St. Mary’s
Cathedral at Puthenkavu had hosted the first post-reunion meet of the Malankara
Syrian Christian Association way back in 1958.
