UNION GOVERNMENTS APPROVAL FOR INTELLIGENCE GRID

The union government on 14th June approved Rs. 1100 crores to purchase high tech equipments for National Intelligence Grid. The NATGRID will pool information from 21 categories of the database including rail, airtravel, income tax, bank account, credit card transactions and immegration records for ready access by Intelligence agency. NATGRID was conceptualized after the 2008 mumbai terror attack for facilitate fast information sharing between different agencies. It will give 11 agencies including RAW, IB, ED, NIA, CBI, and Narcotic Buero to access the combined data.
