KERALA TO BE MADE AN ALL-
 SEASON TOURIST DESTINATION

Unveiling its new tourism policy Kerala has announced that the state would be made an all-season tourist destination by introducing schemes to attract both foreign and domestic travellers.
The target is to attract around 30 lakh foreign tourists and 180 lakh domestic tourists to the state in the coming years, an official said here announcing the new tourism policy of the state government at a function here. The state would be projected as a high-quality travel experience destination. Local communities would be given a prominent role in tourism promotion, he said.
Tourism projects costing over Rs 10 crore as initial investment would be given fast track clearance. The government would take steps to contain plastic pollution in tourism centers. In all major tourism destinations, contingency cells would be set up to respond to emergency situations, he said.
