BETTER HEALTH FOR ELDERS
As the number of senior citizens is rising in the State, ensuring the health and wellbeing of the elderly through schemes should be the health sector's priority now, Health Minister Adoor Prakash has said.Inaugurating the World Health Day celebrations organised by the Indian Medical Association's Thiruvananthapuram branch on Saturday, he said the community should work towards the welfare of senior citizens. The IMA should take the lead in organising such an initiative, he added.The theme of this year's World Health Day was ‘Ageing and Health: Good health adds life to years,' drawing attention to the fact that good health throughout life can be an asset during old age, leading to a better quality of during the sunset years.IMA State president J. Rajagopalan Nair said that awareness programmes and medical check-ups would be organised by the IMA across the State, focussing on the health issues of the elderly and to ensure their welfare.
