FLOWER WINDOW
Alappuzha district panchayat has joined hands with the Kudumbasree Mission to launch project called" Flower Window" a part of which unused water bodies will have water lilies and lotus flowers planted them.
Though farmers in Kuttanad have always faced threats from water lilies and have had to dispose of them from their paddy fields, this project, according to district panchayat president Prathiba Hari,is aimed at not just beautification,but also at helping kudumbasree members earn money from sale to Lotus flower to temples and other prospective customers. The project was launched by Minister for social welfare and panchayats on on Thursday,4th August,2011.
