IDAMALAYAR CASE

    The Supreme court on Thursday convicted and sentenced the former Kerala Congress (B)  Minister, Mr R.Balakrishna pillai,the former chairman of the Kerala State Electricity Board(KSEB), Ramabhadran Nair, and Mr P.K Sajeev, a close friend of Mr Pillai, to one year rigorous imprisonment in the Idamalayar Hydroelectric power project case.
   
The prosecution case was that,Mr pillai,who was the Electricity Minister in the UDF government during 1980-87,caused a pecuniary loss of about Rs 2 crore to the Kerala State Electricity Board by awarding contracts for the construction of a power tunnel and surge shaft of the project to K.P Paulose at" extraordinarily high rates".
        Mr Ramesh Chennithala said that, the party would face political crisis of any kind.He said the verdict would not be set back to the UDF.In his opinion Mr Pillai should file a review petition against the verdict. Mr Oomman Chandi said the verdict was unfortunate and was outcome of political vendetta. Mr K.M Mani said the UDF would discuss the issue and take a decision on filing  a review petition. Chief Minister Mr V.S Achuthandan said" the verdict is a warning to all those who steal public wealth and misuse  power.

United Democratic Front activists,supporters and friends accorded a rousing reception to the Kerala Congress(B) leader Mr R.Balakrishna Pillai in his home town Kottarakara on Saturday 12th February,2011,when he arrived  in Kottarakara for the first time after being sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for a year by the supreme court corruption case.(news from Hindu)

I feel very sad to see Balakrishna Pillai who is 76 years old going to jail hes a innocent I feel But if court finds him guilty it may be true also Anyway let God help Mr Pillai . I am sure one year will go very fast and Balakrishna Pillai will come with more energy after the verdict to come to Indias political soon

The findings of the Honourable Supreme court has to be discussed in public.In a criminal case the benefit of doubt has to be given to the accused.Here the case is the result of a political ventata.No supporting evidence to coroborate the versions of the witnesses who are none other than the real culprits worked in KSEB(may be in the opposit union.The Government has no role in KSEB's Day to Day affairs except in policy matters.Then how a minister become accused?

pilla should have to get punishment.he is really culprit as well as a criminal.people trust our constituency,if pillai get punishment.congrats supreme court to keep up the value of indian constituancy
