The government
is opening a honey procurement center in the state christened' Honey Home' the procurement centre located at Edakodu,near Chadayamangalam inKollam district will inaugurated by industries minister Elamaram Karim on February 14th. the centre will function as a unit of the Horticorp. the Horticorp has been engaged in promoting apiculture in the state since 1998. the organisation had been providing traqining in beekeeping to farmers.  Bee colonies and related gadgets were being supplied to farmers at subsidized rates.Honey would be procured from farmers at fair price. Procurement would mainly be from farmers of Kollam,Thiruvananthapuram,Pathnamthitta and Kottayam districts. The procured honey would be refined by adopting traditional methods and marketed under the brand name" Amrit".
