KERALA HOUSE IN CHENNAI
Kerala Chief Minister V.S Achuthanandan on Sunday 13th February,2011,inaugurated the Kerala House in Chennai.He stressed the need for sustaining the strong fraternal bonds between Kerala and Tamil Nadu,while launching a multi-store house Kerala House in Chennai. Describing Chennai as a home away from home for malayalis settled in Chennai. Tamil Nadu and Kerala and its people were like brethren and shared many likenesses of language and culture.
The Kerala House-the third such complex after the ones in Delhi (1980) and Mumbai (2006) is a bigger and better version with 95 rooms,an auditorum and a conference hall.
The Chennai Kerala House will not only serve as a hub for Kerala's tourism promotion campaigns in tamil Badu, but will also boost arrivals of Malayalis to this state. In the house complex, the non-Resident Keralities Affairs Department and the Kerala State Malayalam Mission. the auditorium along with five rooms will be made available at concessional rates to malayali cultural associations. As part of strengthening Kerala Tourism,the Government was opening information centers in other states depending on the availability of land. While an information centers is now functioning in Kolkata,another is expected to be opened in Mysore. The Kerala House in Chennai would begin full fledged operations in three months.Similar centers are proposed in Mumbai and Coimbatore by the end of of this year.
