IN INDIA 20 MILLION NEW VOTERS TO BE ENROLLED 2011 YEAR

         

          The Chief Election Commissioner S.Y Quraishi said on tuesday 11 th January,2011,that  around 20 million new voters, who attained the age of 18 ason January ! this year(2011) will be enrolled in the electrol rolls across the country on January 25, the day which would be observed as the National voters' day.

          Dr Quraishi said the young voters would be provided their voter identification cards at as many as eight lakh booths simultaneously. All the young voters who would come to collect their identificatiion cards  would also be administered a pledge to encourage them to take part in the electoral process.

          The process of enrolling first time voters was started a few months ago last after the ECI analysed the various factors. Dr Quraishi further informed that students of the National university of Juridical sciences (NUJS) in Kolkata had also expressed interest to manage a page for ECI on the social net working wbsite Face book and Orkut to generate interest among the youth about voting.
