FLOODS IN AUSTRALIA

          Thousands of people affected the flood in Brisbane. Brisbane is the third largest city in Australia. Tuesday 11 th January,2011, the city Brisbane braced for its worst flooding in 120 years, After terrifying flash floods left 10 dead and 78 missing. Workers evacuated after the Brisbane river burst its banks. 6500 properties and the down town area would be hit in Australia's third largest city, which was facing its biggest floods since 1893.


          The  exodus by bus,train and car came a day after flash floods devasted the hill side town of Toowoomba, 125 dividing raange,sweeping away houses and uprooting trees. In Brisbane, there was no bread,milk ,batteries,bottles water, candles. The bakery had sold out of bread and was closing.
          The sudden loss of life in Toowoomba dranatically escalated a rolling flood disaster that has inundated vast swathes of Australia's noth east and crippled economic life. Toowooba is a major town of west Brisbane.
          A large number of Indian's have been affected by the floods in Australia's Queensland province, especially in the capital city of Brisbane. About 10,000 students are estimated to be enrolled in central queensland university. Several of those affected by the flash are students.
         

The Queensland government has set up a 24 hour information line at 1300-993191 and all major media out lets are running info centres round the clock.  

The FISA has advised parents of students based in Brisbane to call these number.
