10th ANNIVERSARY OF THE WIKIPEDIA
In India the 10th anniversary of the Wikipedia is celebrated in 35 cities.On January 15,Wikipedia turns 10.It revealed the success stories of the internet.The massive encyclopedia has revolutionized the concept of gathering and sharing knowledge online. Today Wikipedia site has 17 million articles in more than 270 languages.The site has staggering 1.3 crore registered editors. Congratulation to the Jimmy Wales for his wonderful work.In India,the enthusiastic community if Wikipedia lovers is conducting public functions to mark the 10th year of Wikipedia. Wikipedia leaders are seeking a more diverse group of editors, specifically,women,people in developing countries. Wikipedia is about to open an office in India and wants to expand further in Brazil, Egypt and other middle eastern countries. To day,20 percent of the site pages are written in English. Wikipedia trying to teach young people what it takes to create the website's entries and co-operating professors. Jimmy wales, the sites founder said" students are the fuel that power to Wikipedia because they are engaged in the world of writing, researching, summarizing cites.
The Kottarakara based Society for Computer Science & Research celebrated the anniversary of Wikipedia on 2oth December,2010 at Kurakar Town Center,Kottarakara.Prof.John Kurakar, President,Society of Computer Science & Research,inaugurated the celebration.Mr Sam Kurakar,Director,Comrade Info Systems presided over the function. Mr Bobby Kurakar,Dr M Basheer,Dr Mohan Kumar and Dr Ramakrishna Nair were spoke on the occasion
