SHALE GAS TECHNOLOGY


Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murali Deora on Monday 8th November,2010 said ‘ India had inked an agreement with the US for co operation in shale gas technology that would help it exploit vast untapped unconventional resource.

India does not have technology to exploit shale gas, an unconventional rocks and the US is a pioneer in the field. India identify the shale gas resources and frame policy regime for exploitation of the resource.

India is targeting the first round of auction of shale gas areas for exploration before the end of 2011.
