PERMANENT INDIAN SEAT
ON UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL
A statement in President Barack Obama’s address to the Loksabha that ‘In the years ahead, I look forward to a reformed United Nations Security Council that includes India as a permanent member.
Mr Obama’s support for a permanent Indian seat drew a loud applause from our MPs. His statement was appreciable.
With or without US support, India has a long way to go in its quest for permanent membership of the security council. Permanent seat on UNSC is a rightful claim by a secular democratic country of 100 billion.
