NAVATHY CELBRATION OF THE CATHOLICOS BASELIOS MARTHOMA DIDYMUS 1

The Navathy celebrations of the Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan Baselios Marthoma Didymus 1 were held on the Parumala seminary premised on Friday 29th October,2010.

Hundreds of devotees thronged the premises on the banks of the pampa at parumala to take part in the fete. Special prayers were offered at the church as well as the saint’s tomb in connection with Navathy fete.
Indian Union Muslim League leader Panakkad Hyderaty Shihab thangal inaugurated the Navathy celebration. Thangal said the contributions of the Malankara Orthodox Church to the Sate’s Socio-education sector was were praise worthy. He said the Parumala church is pilgrimage centre that remains a live symbol of communal amity in this age of religious strife and chaos.
The Catholicate designate presided over the meeting and Geevarghese Mar Osthatheos, senior metropolitan of the church, delivered the keynote address.
The Catholicos cut the birthday cake at the reception and served it to all dignitaries.
