TO SET UP FAST TRACK COURTS
Union minister of the state for women and child Development Krishna- Tirath said on Tuesday 29th December,2009 that the union ministry was considering a proposal to set up fast track courts through out the country to exclusively deal with cases related to abuse of women and children.
The union minister said that the central government would introduce gender budgeting in all government departments through the National Mission for women. All government departments will set apart 30 percent of their budget for funding women's development schemes, there for a separate machinery for evaluation and monitoring of the implementation of these schemes.
The union Minister pointed out that alcohol addiction was another major problem concerned with women's empowerment in the state, leading to steep increase in crime against women and child abuse.
