Thousands of people, most of them students, watched with bated breath as the sun turned in to a brilliant ring of fire around the moon at the peak of annular solar eclipse on Friday,15th January,2010. A pall of darkness enveloped and golden ring of fire appeared in the sky as seen from kerala and other parts of India's southern tip as the millennium's longest annular solar eclipse covered a swath of 1,000 km. In southern region, the eclipse, which is began at 11.14 am and ended a little after 3.00 pm.
It was a spectacular sight when the photosphere of the sun was covered by the moon, forming a ring of fire in the sky for about 11 minutes and eight seconds
