PROF. JOHN KURAKAR AND URI INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS SUMMIT

FIRST INTERNATIONAL SUMMIT OF RELIGIONS ON’CLIMATE JUSTICE”

The first International Students Summit of Religions was inaugurated by Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos (Major Arch Bishop of Trivandrum and Member, Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue, Rome ) at an exceptional gathering of around two thousand students in the St. John’s College auditorium, Anchal 10^th January,2020.Kehkashan Basu (Founder President of Green Hope Foundation, Canada and International Children’s Peace Prize Winner ) and John Samuel, (former CEO of FORUM-ASIA and former head and Director for UNDP Global Programme on Democratic Governance) were the key-note speakers. The theme is Climate Justice. Several student speakers offered felicitations.

We have delegates from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in addition to youth representatives from different schools and colleges in India. The three -day conference {10^th to 12^th January,2020} is sponsored by the John Paul II Centre for Interreligious Dialogue, Rome and URI, South India Region. It is hosted by two school CCs--St. John’s School, Anchal and Karickam International Public School. A trip to Kanyakumari (where Swami Vivekananda sat in meditation, before leaving to Chicago for the first Parliament of World’s Religions ) will be arranged on the third day. "One Billion Youth for Peace" are the chief promoters of the summit. Rev. Fr. Bovas Mathew, Dr. Abraham Karickam, Prof. John Kurakar, Dr. John Samuel, Dr. Mohan Lal, Dr.Devi Lal,Mr. Ramachandran P.K Adv. Sajan Koshy, Mathai Kutty, Sanoop Koshy,Issac.S. Thomas were spoke on various occasions of the  three day summit.
