TRANSPLANT AT AIIMS SUCCESSFUL

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s kidney
transplant surgery has successfully ended at AIIMS on Saturday afternoon.
Swaraj underwent a kidney transplant with the organ being harvested from a living
unrelated donor. According to AIIMS sources, the nearly five-hour-long surgery
was conducted by a team of doctors including AIIMS Director M C Mishra,
surgeons V K Bansal, V Seenu and nephrologist Sandeep Mahajan.
Sources said
that the surgery started around 9 am and successfully ended at around 2.30 pm.
The minister was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the same building
immediately after the operation.Swaraj, was admitted to AIIMS on November 7 and
was undergoing dialysis thrice a week. The minister tweeted about her health on
November 16 saying she was in AIIMS because of kidney failure.”
“Swaraj,64,
has been suffering from diabetes for quite a long time. After the kidney
failure diagnosis, she was put on maintenance dialysis,” said doctors.
After Swaraj
made public her health condition on social media, support had poured in for her
with several people offering their kidneys for transplant. Earlier she was
admitted to AIIMS in April for treatment of pneumonia and other health issues.

because of kidney failure. Presently, I am on dialysis. I am undergoing tests
for a kidney transplant. Lord Krishna will bless,” Swaraj had tweeted

കേന്ദ്ര വിദേശകാര്യമന്ത്രി സുഷമ സ്വരാജിന്റെ വൃക്ക മാറ്റിവെക്കല്‍ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ ഡല്‍ഹി എയിംസ് ആസ്പത്രിയില്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയായി. എയിംസ് ഡയറക്ടര്‍ എം.സി എം.സി മിശ്രയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ രാവിലെ ഒമ്പതിന് തുടങ്ങിയ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് 2.30 നാണ് അവസാനിച്ചത്.
തുടര്‍ന്ന് അവരെ തീവ്രപരിചരണ വിഭാഗത്തിലേക്ക് മാറ്റി. ദീര്‍ഘകാലമായി പ്രമേഹരോഗ ബാധിതയായിരുന്നു 64 കാരിയായ സുഷമ സ്വരാജ്. വൃക്കയ്ക്ക് തകരാര്‍ കണ്ടെത്തിയതിനെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് അവര്‍ ഡയാലിസിസിന് വിധേയയായിരുന്നു. നവംബര്‍ 16 ന് കേന്ദ്രമന്ത്രി തന്നെയാണ് താന്‍ വൃക്ക മാറ്റിവെക്കലിനായി താന്‍ എയിംസിലാണെന്ന് ട്വിറ്ററിലൂടെ അറിയിച്ചത്. ആരോഗ്യവിവരം മന്ത്രി പുറത്തുവിട്ടതോടെ പിന്തുണയുമായി നിരവധി പേരാണ് എത്തിയത്. വൃക്ക ദാനം ചെയ്യാന്‍പോലും പലരും പലരും മുന്നോട്ടുവന്നു.
