INDIA HANDS OVER A LIST OF 57 FUGITIVES,INCLUDING VIJAY MALLYA TO UK

India on Monday urged the United Kingdom to expedite extradition requests of 57 fugitives wanted here, including liquor baron and bank defaulter Vijay Mallya and an alleged middleman in AgustaWestland helicopter deal Christian Michel to face the law.The Indian list of 57 fugitives prepared by the Union Home Ministry was handed over to UK authorities during the bilateral talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Theresa May. Besides Mallya and Michel, the list also includes the name of Rajesh Kapoor who is wanted in a case relating to child abduction and former IPL chief Lalit Modi accused of money laundering among others.The UK on its part also handed over to India a list of 17 fugitives seeking their custody under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty, Union Home Ministry sources said.While Mallya has been accused of money laundering, Michel is wanted by the CBI and ED in cases relating to Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland chopper deal.A proposal from the Union Home Ministry for a strategic dialogue at the level of Union Home Secretary to jointly deal with issues like terrorism, organised crimes, visa and immigration issues has also been approved by the two countries, the sources added.

കിങ്ഫിഷര് ഉടമ വിജയ് മല്യയും ലളിത് മോഡിയുമുള്പ്പെടെ 57 കുറ്റവാളികളെ വിട്ടു നല്കണമെന്ന് ബ്രിട്ടനോട് ഇന്ത്യ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. മൂന്നു ദിവസത്തെ ഇന്ത്യാ സന്ദര്ശനത്തിനായി ന്യൂഡല്ഹിയിലെത്തിയ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് തെരേസ മേയുമായുള്ള കൂടിക്കാഴ്ചക്കിടെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി നരേന്ദ്രമോദിയാണ് ഇക്കാര്യമുന്നയിച്ചത്. വിവിധ കേസുകളില് പ്രതിയായ ഇന്ത്യ തിരയുന്ന 60 കുറ്റവാളികളുടെ പട്ടികയും ചര്ച്ചക്കിടെ തെരേസ മേയക്കു മോദി കൈമാറി.

അഗസ്റ്റ വെസ്റ്റ് ലാന്ഡ് ഹെലികോപ്റ്റര് ഇടപാടിലെ ഇടനിലക്കാരന് ക്രിസ്ത്യന് മൈക്കിളിന്റെ പേരും ഇന്ത്യ കൈമാറിയ പട്ടികയിലുണ്ട്. ഇരുരാജ്യങ്ങളും തമ്മിലുള്ള ധാരണ അനുസരിച്ച് ബ്രിട്ടന് തിരയുന്ന 17 കുറ്റവാളികളുടെ പേരും തരേസ മേ മോദിക്കു കൈമാറിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
