SAMUEL CHANDANAPALLY

(13 May 1940 – 3 July 2000),

Samuel Chandanappally( C.D. Samuel) was an Indian writer, college professor and orator.In his lifetime, he wrote around 30 books in Malayalam. His book titled Malankara Sabha Pithakkanmar, contains the study about the writings of the holy fathers of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church community and is considered a reference text.Dr. Samuel Chandanappally collected most of the writings of Saint Gregorios of Parumala after a long period of research and published them with the title Holy writings in 1980. He  was  the  Professor   in Malayalam  Department of  Catholicate College .Degree course in Malayalam was started in 1957 and  M.A in 1965. The Department was declared a Research center in 1986.Nine research guides are registered and Twenty-Five PhD students are doing active research and Eleven PhD are produced from this department and has two on going Major projects and two Minior projectsThe department has published 50 publications in National journals and 35 books. The department has an excellent library and reading room with books to cater to the need of the students. It has 6590 books. The department also maintains a departmental library with 89 reference books. The central library also has eight journals in Malayalam The dept.has a good reading room and a computer room. Texts books are issued to students belong to SC/ST and minorities and they can keep it for six months. The dept.owes a well equipped digital theatre under the assistance of PG Grant and management.The department has produced 21 Ph.Ds.

ഡോ .സാമുവേൽ ചന്ദനപ്പള്ളിയുടെ" മിഷനറി മലയാള സാഹിത്യം എന്ന കൃതി " വളരെ കാലം  പിജി വിദ്ധാർത്ഥികളുടെ  സിലബസിൽ ഉൾപ്പെട്ട പുസ്‌തകമായിരുന്നു . ആയിരകണക്കിന് ശിഷ്യസമ്പത്തിൻറെ ഉടമയാണ്  സാമുവേൽ ചന്ദനപ്പള്ളി സാർ . അദ്ധ്യാപകൻ , വാഗ്‌മി , എഴുത്തുകാരൻ , ചരിത്രകാരൻ , സാമൂഹ്യ പ്രവർത്തകൻ  എന്നീ നിലകളിൽ ശോഭിച്ച വ്യക്തിയാണ്  ചന്ദനപ്പള്ളി സാർ. മലങ്കരസഭയുടെ ചരിത്ര പണ്ഡിതൻ  എന്ന നിലയിൽ  ശ്രേദ്ധേയനായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം .ആയിരകണക്കിന് വേദികളിൽ അദ്ദേഹം  പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട് . കുരാക്കാരൻ വലിയവീട്ടിൽ കുടുംബയോഗത്തിൻറെ  വാർഷിക സമ്മേളനത്തിൽ നടത്തിയ പ്രഭാഷണം  എടുത്തു പറയേണ്ടതുതന്നെയാണ് . .സാമുവേൽ ചന്ദനപ്പള്ളിസാറിനു സ്മരണാഞ്ജലി .
