CPI VETERAN KC MATHEW PASSES AWAY

CPI leader K C Mathew passed away at a private hospital on 24th
May,2016,Tuesday morning, at the age of 92. Mathew, who was the mastermind
behind Edappally police station attack in 1950, had been undergoing treatment
for old age-related ailments for a few years.Mathew was suffering from memory
loss and fatigue, and was admitted to KIMS Hospital three weeks ago. At KIMS,
he was on ventilator support.
Mathew became
popular in Kerala’s political arena after he spearheaded the Edappally police
station attack on February 28, 1950, which was a first of its kind agitation by
revolutionaries. Then, a nation-wide strike launched by the
Communist party resulted in the arrest of party leaders, and eventually led to
the police station attack.Mathew is survived by wife Mary and children Patrick,
Nikhath and Mallika. The body will be kept at KIMS Hospital on Wednesday for
the public to pay homage, and will be shifted to his residence at Manichira
later.On Thursday, the body will be kept at the CPI district committee office
from 12 noon to 2 pm for the public to pay homage. The funeral will be held at
Valiya Chudukadu in Alappuzha at 4 pm on Thursday.

വാർധക്യസഹജമായ അവശതകളെ തുടർന്നു ദീർഘനാളായി വീട്ടിൽ വിശ്രമത്തിലായിരുന്നു. ഒരു മാസം മുൻപു വീട്ടുമുറ്റത്തു തെന്നിവീണു തലയ്ക്കു പരുക്കേറ്റതിനെ തുടർന്ന് ആശുപത്രിയിൽ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ നടത്തിയെങ്കിലും ഫലമുണ്ടായില്ല. ആശുപത്രിയിൽ സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന മൃതദേഹം നാളെ രാവിലെ ഒൻപതു മുതൽ 11.30 വരെ ഇടപ്പള്ളി ഉണിച്ചിറയിലെ വസതിയിൽ പൊതുദർശനത്തിനു വയ്ക്കും.... 12ന് സിപിഐ ജില്ലാ ആസ്ഥാനമായ കലൂർ ജഡ്ജസ് അവന്യൂവിലെ ചടയംമുറി സ്മാരകത്തിൽ കൊണ്ടുവരും. 1.30നു വിലാപയാത്രയായി ആലപ്പുഴയിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകും. ഏലൂർ മഞ്ഞുമ്മൽ ഉഴുന്നുകാട്ടിൽ മേരിയാണു ഭാര്യ. മക്കൾ: കെ.എം.പാട്രിസ്, കെ.എം.മല്ലിക, കെ.എം.നീഗാർ. മരുമക്കൾ: സജി, കെ.വി.കുര്യാക്കോസ്, വി.ജെ.പോൾസൻ...
. വാക്കിലും പ്രവൃത്തിയിലും അണുവിട വ്യതിചലിക്കാത്ത കമ്യൂണിസ്റ്റ് എന്നായിരുന്നു മാത്യു അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത്. ഇടപ്പള്ളി സ്റ്റേഷൻ ആക്രമണക്കേസിൽ ഒന്നാം പ്രതിയായതോടെ പത്തര വർഷക്കാലം ജയിൽവാസം അനുഭവിച്ചു. മോചിതനായ ശേഷം ട്രേഡ് യൂണിയൻ രംഗത്തു സജീവമായ അദ്ദേഹം എഐടിയുസിയുടെ ദേശീയ നേതാവായി... സിപിഐ ദേശീയ കൗൺസിൽ അംഗമായും സംസ്ഥാന കൗൺസിൽ അംഗമായും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു. കുറച്ചുകാലം എറണാകുളം ജില്ലാ സെക്രട്ടറിയുടെ ചുമതലയും വഹിച്ചു. പത്തുവർഷം ലോക തൊഴിലാളി ഫെഡറേഷന്റെ വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റായി ഹംഗറിയുടെ പ്രസിഡന്റായി ഹംഗറിയുടെ തലസ്ഥാനമായ ബുഡാപെസ്റ്റിലും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.
