INDIA RANKS ITS CLEANEST

Mysore is ranked India’s cleanest city, the government said Monday, as it announced the results of a survey to measure the success of a program to improve sanitation in the country.Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, or Clean India Mission, in October 2014, with the aim to eradicate open defecation, build 1.1 million toilets and clean up public places, among other things.

The list, unveiled by the urban development ministry at a news conference in New Delhi on Monday, includes 73 cities, including 53 with a population of over 1 million people.

City administrations were marked for the way they manage solid waste, how many toilets they have built and the success of their sanitation strategy and how well they have communicated it to the public.Mysore, a city in the southern state of Karnataka, was followed in the cleanly list by the northern city of Chandigarh, Tirichurapelli in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, and the country’s notoriously polluted capital, New Delhi.

ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വൃത്തിയുളള നഗരം മൈസൂരുവാണെന്ന് സര്വ്വെ ഫലം.  പത്ത് ലക്ഷത്തിലേറെ ജനസംഖ്യയുളള ഇന്ത്യയിലെ 73 നഗരങ്ങളില് നടത്തിയ സര്വ്വെയുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലാണ് മൈസൂരുവിനെ ഏറ്റവും ശുചിത്വമുളള നഗരമായി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത്.സര്വ്വെയുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തില് മൈസൂരു, ചണ്ഡീഗര്, തിരുച്ചിറപ്പള്ളി എന്നീ നഗരങ്ങളാണ് ഇന്ത്യയിലെ  ഏറ്റവും ശുചിത്വമുളള മൂന്ന് നഗരങ്ങള്. പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ സ്വച്ച് ഭാരത് പദ്ധയിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി നടന്ന ശുചീകരണത്തിന്റെ ഫലം കണക്കാക്കാന് വേണ്ടി സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച സര്വ്വെയുടെ ഫലം കേന്ദ്ര നഗരവികസന വകുപ്പ് മന്ത്രി വെങ്കയ്യനായിഡുവാണ് തിങ്കളാഴ്ച പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത്. നഗരങ്ങളിലെ റോഡിന്റെ ശുചിത്വമായിരുന്നു സര്വ്വെയിലെ ഒരു പ്രധാന മാനദണ്ഡം.

ആന്ധ്രാപ്രദേശിലെ വിശാഖപ്പട്ടണം, ഗുജറാത്തിലെ സൂറത്ത്, രാജ്കോട്ട് എന്നീ നഗരങ്ങളാണ് പിന്നീട് പട്ടികയില് വരുന്ന നഗരങ്ങള്. മുന്വര്ഷങ്ങളെ അപേക്ഷിച്ച് ശുചിത്വത്തിന്റെ കാര്യത്തില് വന്മുന്നേറ്റമാണ് ഇന്ത്യയിലുണ്ടായതെന്നാണ് പഠനത്തിന്റെ വിലയിരുത്തല്. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ 476 നഗരങ്ങളില് നിന്നാണ് ഏറ്റവും ശുചിത്വമുളള പട്ടണമായി മൈസൂരുവിനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തത്.... ശുചിത്വവും ആരോഗ്യവും തമ്മിലുളള ബന്ധത്തിന്റെ പ്രാധാന്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് ജനങ്ങള്ക്ക് ബോധവല്ക്കരണം നല്കുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യവുമായാണ് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ   സ്വച്ച് ഭാരത് പദ്ധതി ആരംഭിച്ചത്. ഡല്ഹിയിലെ റോഡ് വൃത്തിയാക്കി കൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി പദ്ധതിയുടെ  ഉദ്ഘാടനം നിര്വ്വഹിച്ചത്. 2019-തോടെ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ എല്ലാ വീടുകളിലും ശൗചാലയങ്ങള് നിര്മ്മിക്കുമെന്നും പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
