CPM TIE-UP WITH
CONGRESS IN BENGAL

ഇടതു മുന്നണിയുടെ പച്ചക്കൊടി
While
the Congress high command is considering the proposal of most of the PCC
leaders for an alliance with the CPI-M in the coming Bengal Assembly elections,
a majority of the CPI-M’s 18-member state secretariat favoured the tie-up plan.The
meeting, attended by former chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, among
others, discussed the current political situation in the state, besides the
crucial issue of the proposed poll alliance with the Congress.
Party
insiders said only four secretariat members opposed the alliance idea, but they
were overshadowed by the majority opinion.The
CPI-M state committee will take a call on the issue during a two-day session
beginning 12 February before sending its report to the party's central
committee which will meet in Delhi on 17 and 18 February to formulate the
party’s position on the “momentous shift in tactical, political line.’’
“The
alliance proposal has been doing the rounds for the past one month and there is
a likelihood that it will be cleared, going by the positive and sincere
approach of the Congress’’, said CPI-M politburo member Md Selim, MP.Md
Selim, who recently sent a message to the Congress to clear its position on the
crucial question without wasting time, said “the Congress high command takes
decisions on whatever issue the party sends to it for finalisation and here too
its party chief will take the final call on the issue’’.CPI-M
general secretary Sitaram Yechury said in Agartala during the day that the
alliance issue would come up at the West Bengal state committee meeting of the
party on 12 and 13 February for detailed discussion and the fate of the issue
rests on the central committee meeting five days later in Delhi.
“We
will discuss at the central committee the poll prospects of our party and the
Left combinein the states where Assembly elections are round the corner,’’ he
said.
In
the meantime, the party politburo meets on 16 February, the source said.
According
to a party source, if any decision is taken for joining hands with the Congress
for a poll understanding in West Bengal, “the central committee is empowered to
bring an amendment to the last party congress resolution which decided that the
CPI-M will keep equidistance from both the BJP and the Congress’’.“An
amendment to the resolution may become imperative considering the political
equation and understanding based on the political situation and developments
that may arise,’’ the source said when asked if the party can afford to deviate
from its declared stand by joining hands with the Congress to fight the coming

ചര്‍ച്ചയ്ക്ക് തയ്യാറാണ്. എന്നാല്‍ ചര്‍ച്ചയ്ക്ക് കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് മുന്‍കൈ എടുക്കണമെന്നും ബിമന്‍ ബോസ് പറഞ്ഞു. ബംഗാള്‍ ഇടതു മുന്നണിയുടെ അധ്യക്ഷനാണ് ബിമന്‍ ബോസ്. കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് സഖ്യത്തിന് ഇടതു മുന്നണിയിലെ മറ്റ് കക്ഷികളും അനുകൂല നിലപാട് അറിയിച്ചു.
ബംഗാളില്‍ പൊതുശത്രുവായ തൃണമുല്‍ കോണ്‍ഗ്രസിനെ നേരിടാന്‍ കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ്-സി.പി.എം സഖ്യം രൂപീകരിക്കുന്നതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് ഏറെ നാളായി ചര്‍ച്ച നടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ഈ ചര്‍ച്ചകളുടെ തുടര്‍ച്ചയായാണ് ഇടതു മുന്നണി നിലപാട് വ്യക്തമാക്കിയത്. വരുന്ന നിയമസഭാ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില്‍ സഖ്യം യാഥാര്‍ത്ഥ്യമായേക്കും. ആര്‍.എസ്.പി, സി.പി.ഐ ഫോര്‍വേര്‍ഡ് ബ്ലോക്ക് തുടങ്ങിയ പാര്‍ട്ടികളുടെ യോഗത്തിലാണ് കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് സഖ്യത്തിന് അനുകൂല നിലപാട് സ്വീകരിച്ചത്.
നേരത്തെ തന്നെ കോണ്‍ഗ്രസുമായി സഖ്യം ചേരുന്നതിന് സി.പി.എം അനുകൂലമായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും സി.പി.ഐ അടക്കമുള്ള ഘടകകക്ഷികള്‍ എതിര്‍പ്പ് തുടരുകയായിരുന്നു. നാളെ ചേരാനിരിക്കുന്ന
ബംഗാള്‍ സംസ്ഥാന സമിതി യോഗത്തില്‍ അന്തിമ തീരുമാനം എടുക്കും. പാര്‍ട്ടി ജനറല്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി സീതാറാം യെച്ചൂരിയും മുന്‍ ജനറല്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി പ്രകാശ് കാരാട്ട്, വൃന്ദ കാരാട്ട് എന്നിവരും നാളെ നടക്കുന്ന സമിതി യോഗത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കും.
