FIRST HEART TRANSPLANT BY A GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL
കോട്ടയം മെഡി. കോളജ് ആശുപത്രിയില് ഹൃദയം മാറ്റിവയ്ക്കല് ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ: വിനയകുമാറിന്റെ ഹൃദയം പൊടിമോനില് തുടിച്ചു
The Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) here has turned a
new leaf in the history of the public health dispensation system in the State
by becoming the first of its kind to conduct the complex heart transplant
surgery.A team headed by T.K. Jayakumar, Head of the Department of
Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery, conducted the heart transplant surgery on
Podimon (50) of Vaaluparambil, Vayattupuzha, Pathanamthitta, in the early hours
of Tuesday(15th September,2015).
The condition of the patient is stable, according to hospital
authorities. The next six days will be crucial since only after that it would
be possible to declare that the body has fully accepted the organ.The more than
12-hour process that led to the successful completion of the complex surgery
commenced with the Mrithasanjeevani authorities informing the hospital
authorities about the availability of a suitable organ for Podimon at Lourdes
Hospital, Kochi. Relatives of Vinaykumar, who was declared brain-dead, had
agreed for organ donation. Podimon was called in immediately and once the
doctors found him fit for the surgery, they left for Kochi.The harvesting of
the organ was completed by 3 a.m. under the leadership of Dr. Jayakumar.

പൊടിമോന് ആശുപത്രിയില് എത്തിയതോടെ ഡോ. ജയകുമാറിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില് ഡോക്ടര്മാര് ലൂര്ദ് ആശുപത്രിയിലേക്കു പോയി. ക്രോസ് മാച്ചിങ്ങ് ഉള്പ്പെടെയുള്ള പരീക്ഷണങ്ങള്ക്കു ശേഷം രാത്രി 11.30 നു ഹൃദയം വേര്പെടുത്താനുള്ള ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ ആരംഭിച്ചു. കാര്ഡിയോ തൊറാസിക് വിഭാഗത്തിലെ ഡോ. ദീപ, ഡോ. സഞ്ജയ്, ഡോ. അഷ്റഫ് എന്നിവരും ചേര്ന്നാണു ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ നടത്തിയത്. ഹൃദയവുമായി പുലര്ച്ചെ 3.30ന് ലൂര്ദ് ആശുപത്രിയില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ട ആംബുലന്സിന്റെ സുഗമമായ യാത്രയ്ക്കായി വഴിയിലുടനീളം പോലീസ് ഗതാഗത ക്രമീകരണം ഏര്പ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു.ആംബുലന്സ് തൃപ്പൂണിത്തുറ പിന്നിട്ടപ്പോള് ഡോ. രതീഷിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില് മെഡിക്കല് കോളജില് പൊടിമോന്റെ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ ആരംഭിച്ചിരുന്നു. നാലരയോടെ മെഡിക്കല് കോളജില് എത്തിച്ച ഹൃദയം തുന്നിച്ചേര്ത്ത് പൊടിമോനെ തീവ്രപരിചരണ വിഭാഗത്തിലേക്കു മാറ്റുമ്പോള് രാവിലെ ഒന്പത് കഴിഞ്ഞു.സ്വകാര്യ ആശുപത്രികളില് 10 മുതല് 12 ലക്ഷം രൂപ വരെ ചെലവാകുന്ന ശസ്ത്രക്രിയയ്ക്ക് രണ്ടു ലക്ഷം രൂപയില് താഴെ മാത്രമാണ് മെഡിക്കല് കോളജ് ആശുപത്രിയില് ചെലവായത്. കാരുണ്യ ചികിത്സാസഹായനിധിയില് നിന്നുള്ള പണമുപയോഗിച്ചാണ് ചികിത്സ നടത്തുന്നത്.
പുതിയ ഹൃദയം പൊടിമോന്റെ ശരീരത്തില് പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചുതുടങ്ങി.
ആറു ദിവസം വിദഗ്ധ ഡോക്ടര്മാരുടെ നിരീക്ഷണത്തില് കഴിയുന്ന പൊടിമോന് സാധാരണ നിലയില് എത്തുന്നതോടെ പ്രത്യേക മുറിയിലേക്കു മാറ്റും. അപ്പോഴേക്കും പൊടിമോന് സാധാരണനില കൈവരിക്കുകയും ശരീരം പുതിയ ഹൃദയത്തെ സ്വീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതുണ്ട്.
കൂലിവേല ചെയ്ത് കുടുംബം പുലര്ത്തിയിരുന്ന പൊടിമോന് നാലു മാസം മുന്പ്, കഴിഞ്ഞ മേയിലാണ് ഹൃദയസംബന്ധമായ അസുഖം കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. ധമനികളില് തടസമുണ്ടെന്ന് കോട്ടയം മെഡിക്കല് കോളജില് നടത്തിയ പരിശോധനയില് കണ്ടെത്തിയതോടെ ആന്ജിയോപ്ലാസ്റ്റി നടത്തി.
വീണ്ടും അസ്വസ്ഥതയുണ്ടായപ്പോള് കൊച്ചി അമൃതാ ആശുപത്രിയിലേക്കു പോയി. ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ ഒരു ഭാഗത്തിന്റെ ചലനം പൂര്ണമായും നിലച്ചെന്നു കണ്ടെത്തിയ ഡോക്ടര്മാര് നിര്ദേശിച്ച ഏക പ്രതിവിധി ഹൃദയം മാറ്റിവയ്ക്കലായിരുന്നു. പൊടിമോന് കിടപ്പിലായതോടെ കുടുംബം പട്ടിണിയായി.കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ നിത്യവൃത്തിക്കായി ഭാര്യ ഓമന കൂലിപ്പണിക്കു പോയിത്തുടങ്ങി. നാട്ടുകാരുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്
