BUS KILLS 2 IN CHANDNI CHOWK AS DRIVER SUCCUMBS TO HEART ATTACK

 ഡല്‍ഹിയില്‍ ബസ് ഇടിച്ച് മരണം മൂന്നായി

A cluster bus smashed into traffic and vendors on a crowded Chandni Chowk street after its driver suffered a heart attack behind the wheel on Friday afternoon. The bizarre road tragedy left three persons dead and five critically injured. The bus driver, Wajid Ali, 40, was among the dead, having succumbed to cardiac failure before he could be admitted in hospital, police said. Ali had recently undergone an angioplasty. Ali suffered the attack as passengers were getting off the bus at Bhai Mati Das Chowk near the old Delhi Railway Station. As he slouched over, Ali apparently pressed the accelerator. The bus sped through the crowded road, ramming a tempo and an auto, and hitting seven people before coming to a halt. 

The dead were identified as Suraj, 21, a roadside vendor and Keshav Prasad, 48. The bus was plying on route number 419 from Ambedkar Nagar to old Delhi Railway Station. The conductor, D K Ghosh, told police that moments before the accident, passengers getting off the bus had told him that Ali was slouching on the steering wheel. "Within a few moments, the bus jerked forward and roared down on one side of the road. Before Ghosh could pull the emergency brakes, it had sped uncontrolled for about 100 metres towards Gurudwara Sisganj," Manoj Gupta, an eyewitness said. Police said that the injured were identified as Rajesh, Mahender, Santosh, Rajkumar and Surender. The bus first hit a tempo. Suraj, a handicapped vendor, was sandwiched between the two vehicles and died on the spot. The bus then went on to hit a cargo TSR and crushed Prasad under its wheels. The TSR rolled over several times under the impact, hitting two other vendors, Mahender and Santosh. Both received critical injuries. 
The others were injured trying to get out of the way. They were rushed to Aruna Asaf Ali hospital where two of them were declared dead while the rest were admitted for treatment. Family members of Prasad, who stay in Balia, east Uttar Pradesh, have been informed. As a crowd rushed onto the bus to nab Ali, they found him unconscious. He was taken to the Sushruta Trauma Center where he too was declared dead. The conductor was taken to the police station and his statement recorded. Cops are reconstructing the sequence of events based on witness accounts. An FIR under section 304A (causing death due to negligence) and 279 (rash driving) has been registered and Delhi government has ordered an enquiry as well. Delhi transport minister Gopal Rai said they have set up a committee to probe the incident. Locals alleged that despite the entry of goods vehicles being barred on this stretch, trucks and three-wheelers are parked on both sides of the road, which leads to congestion and forces people to walk on the road. They even held a protest demanding action to make the road safer.

ഡ്രൈവര്‍ക്ക് ഹൃദയാഘാതമുണ്ടായതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഡല്‍ഹിയില്‍ ലോഫ്‌ളോര്‍ ബസ് നിയന്ത്രണം വിട്ട് അപകടത്തില്‍ പെട്ട് മരണം മൂന്നായി. ബസ് ഓടിച്ചിരുന്ന ഡ്രൈവറെ അപകടത്തിന് പിന്നാലെ ഡ്രൈവറും മരിച്ചു. വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച ഉച്ചയ്ക്കു ശേഷം മൂന്നരയോടെ ചാന്ദ്‌നിചൗക്കിലെ എച്ച്.സി. മാര്‍ഗിലാണ് അപകടം നടന്നത്.ഓള്‍ഡ് റെയില്‍വേസ്‌റ്റേഷന്‍-അംബേദ്കര്‍ നഗര്‍ റൂട്ടില്‍ ക്ലസ്റ്റര്‍ സര്‍വീസ് നടത്തുന്ന 419 നമ്പര്‍ ബസ് നിയന്ത്രണം വിട്ട് മുന്നിലുള്ള ട്രക്കിലിടിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ഹൃദയാഘാതമുണ്ടായപ്പോള്‍ ഡ്രൈവര്‍ വെപ്രാളത്തില്‍ ബസ്സിന്റെ ആക്‌സിലേറ്ററില്‍ കാലമര്‍ത്തി. ആദ്യം ടെമ്പോയിലിടിച്ച ബസ് ഓട്ടോറിക്ഷയിലുമിടിച്ച ശേഷമാണ് നിന്നത്. ടെമ്പോയില്‍ നിന്ന് ചരക്ക് ഇറക്കുകയായിരുന്ന കേശവ് പ്രസാദും സ്ട്രീറ്റിലെ വെന്‍ഡറായ സൂരജുമാണ് മരിച്ചത്.ഓട്ടോയ്ക്കും ബസ്സിനുമിടയില്‍ പെട്ടാണ് സൂരജ് മരണമടഞ്ഞത്. ആറ് പേര്‍ക്ക് അപകടത്തില്‍ പരിക്കേറ്റു. അപകടത്തെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് രോഷാകുലരായ നാട്ടുകാര്‍ ഡ്രൈവറെ കൈയേറ്റം ചെയ്യാന്‍ ഓടിയടുത്തപ്പോള്‍ അദ്ദേഹം സീറ്റില്‍ കുഴഞ്ഞുവീണ് മരിച്ചനിലയിലായിരുന്നു. ദൃക്‌സാക്ഷികളായ പ്രദേശവാസികള്‍ അക്രമാസക്തരായി. പ്രതിഷേധക്കാര്‍ ബസ് അടിച്ചു തകര്‍ത്തു. പോലീസെത്തി സ്ഥിതിഗതികള്‍ ശാന്തമാക്കി.
