The fire broke out at a site used to house workers for the oil giant Saudi Aramco in the eastern city of Khobar. The cause is unknown.Some people were reportedly trapped on rooftops as helicopters battled to control the blaze.Like many companies in Saudi Arabia, Aramco uses large numbers of migrant workers.Saudi's civil defence ministry tweeted: "Cars and furniture caught fire in the basement of one of the towers, heavy smoke billowed, obstructing rescue and firefighting operations."Aramco says it has begun an investigation into the cause.സൗദി അറേബ്യയിലെ കൊബാറിൽ ബഹുനില കെട്ടിടത്തിലുണ്ടായ തീപിടിത്തത്തിൽ ഏഴു പേർ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടു. 200ലധികം പേർക്ക് പരുക്കേറ്റു. മരിച്ചവരുടെയും പരുക്കേറ്റവരുടെയും പേരുവിവരങ്ങൾ ലഭ്യമായിട്ടില്ല. വിവിധ രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള തൊഴിലാളികൾ വസിക്കുന്ന കെട്ടിടത്തിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും താഴത്തെ നിലയിലാണ് തീപിടിത്തം ഉണ്ടായത്.സൗദിയിൽ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ എണ്ണഖനനം നടക്കുന്ന പ്രദേശമാണ് കൊബാർ. സർക്കാരിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലുള്ള സൗദി അരാംകോയെന്ന സ്ഥാപനമാണ് നിലവിൽ ഈ കെട്ടിടം ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത്. അതുകൊണ്ട് സൗദി അരാംകോയുടെ തൊഴിലാളികളാണ് അപകടത്തിൽപ്പെട്ടതെന്ന് കരുതുന്നു.
