PATEL AGITATION TURNS VIOLENT IN GUJARAT

ഗുജറാത്തിൽ മരണം പത്ത്: മരിച്ചവരുടെ കുടുംബത്തിന് 35 ലക്ഷം നൽകണമെന്ന് ഹാർദിക് പട്ടേൽ 

As the Patel/Patidar community agitation in Gujarat over demands of reservation has turned violent, Ten people have lost their lives so far, thus forcing the Gujarat government to deploy the Army, and impose a curfew in some parts of the state.According to reports, Surat, Rajkot and Mehsana city are the places where the Army held flag marches to reduce tension. The administration has also imposed a curfew in violence-affected cities of Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Mehasana, Patan, Palanpur, Unjha, Visnagar and Jamnagar towns.

Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a former chief minister of Gujarat, appealed to people to maintain peace, but this failed to quell the angry protesters. Incidents where agitators resorted to violence were reported across many cities in the state.

Since day one of the bandh, which started on Wednesday, eight people have lost their lives in police firings and clashes. Four of the eight deaths were reported in Ahmedabad, while three in Banaskantha district and one in Mehasana town.The bandh called by a Patidar/Patel group has hit normal life severely, as schools, colleges, banks and public transport will remain close on Thursday too.The Patidars, or the Patel community, are an affluent business class, which is understood to be a driving force in India’s economy, and this has been one of the reasons that the government has rejected their demands of including them in Other Backward Classes (OBC). The community is also said to be politically very significant, as it accounts for more than 10 per cent of Gujarat’s 63 million population.

അഹമ്മദാബാദ്: സംവരണം ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടുള്ള പട്ടേൽ സമുദായത്തിന്രെ പ്രക്ഷോഭത്തിൽ മരണമടഞ്ഞവരുടെ കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങൾക്ക് 35 ലക്ഷം രൂപ സർക്കാർ അനുവദിക്കണമെന്ന് പ്രക്ഷോഭ നേതാവ് ഹാർദിക് പട്ടേൽ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. ധനസഹായം അനുവദിക്കാൻ സർക്കാർ തയ്യാറല്ലെങ്കിൽ അവശ്യ സാധനങ്ങളുടെ വില്പന നിർത്തിവയ്ക്കാൻ കർഷകരോട് ആവശ്യപ്പെടുമെന്നും പതിദർ അനാമത് ആന്ദോളൻ സമിതി നേതാവ് ഹർദ്ദിക് മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് നൽകി. ഒ.ബി.സി സംവരണം ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടുകൊണ്ടുള്ള സമാധാനപരമായ പ്രക്ഷോഭം തുടരുകതന്നെ ചെയ്യുമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

ഇതിനിടെ,​ പട്ടേൽ പ്രക്ഷോഭത്തെ തുടർന്നുണ്ടായ അക്രമസംഭവങ്ങളിൽ സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് മരണമടഞ്ഞവരുടെ സംഖ്യ പത്തായി ഉയർന്നു. ആറുപേർ പൊലീസ് വെടിവെയ്പ്പിലും രണ്ടുപേർ ലഹളക്കിടെയും പരിക്കേറ്റ രണ്ടു പേർ വ്യാഴാഴ്ചയുമാണ് മരിച്ചത്.സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് കാര്യമായ അക്രമസംഭവങ്ങളൊന്നും വ്യാഴാഴ്ച റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ല. അക്രമം അനിയന്ത്രിതമായതിനെ തുടർന്ന് പ്രശ്നബാധിത പ്രദേശിങ്ങളിൽ സൈന്യം ബുധനാഴ്ച  രംഗത്തിറങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. അഹമ്മദാബാദിലും സൂറത്തിലും സൈന്യം വ്യാഴാഴ്ച ഫ്ളാഗ് മാർച്ച് നടത്തി.
