സ്‌ഫോടകവസ്തുക്കള്‍ പൊട്ടിത്തെറിച്ച് ഒട്ടേറെ ഫയലുകളും രേഖകളും മറ്റും നശിച്ചു. എന്നാല്‍, ആളപായമുണ്ടായില്ലെന്ന് പത്രം അറിയിച്ചു. പത്രമോഫീസിലുണ്ടായ തീപ്പിടിത്തം ഉടന്‍തന്നെ അണച്ചതിനാല്‍ വന്‍ദുരന്തം ഒഴിവായതായി പോലീസ് അറിയിച്ചു.ഫ്രഞ്ച് കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ വാരികയായ ' ഷാര്‍ലി എബ്ദോ'യില്‍ 2011 മുഹമ്മദ് നബിയെക്കുറിച്ച് വന്ന കാര്‍ട്ടൂണാണ് തീവ്രവാദി ആക്രമണത്തിന് ഇടയാക്കിയത്. വാരികയുടെ ഓഫീസിലുണ്ടായയ ഭീകരാക്രമണത്തില്‍ 12 പേര്‍ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. ഭീകരാക്രമണത്തില്‍ മരിച്ച മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരോട് ഐക്യദാര്‍ഢ്യം പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ച് ഫ്രഞ്ച് തലസ്ഥാനമായ പാരീസില്‍ വന്‍ റാലി നടക്കുന്നതിന് മുമ്പാണ് ജര്‍മനില്‍ മാധ്യമസ്ഥാപനം ആക്രമിച്ചത്. 70,000 പേര്‍ അണിചേരുന്ന റാലിയില്‍ 40 ലോകനേതാക്കളും പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. നാലിയിരത്തോളം സുരക്ഷാസൈനികരെ റാലിയുടെ സുരക്ഷ ഉറപ്പാക്കാന്‍ വിന്യസിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
