‘LIFE IS HEAVEN NOW’
(A book of three Fruitful Decades in Dialogue )
Dear
friends,
Dr. Abraham
Karickam completed Three Fruitful Decades in A Dialogical Pilgrimage. He started
his Dialogical Pilgrimage actually in 1975 when he first visited Taize
Community in France, where he encountered people of many Faiths and Nations for
the first time, during his student days. But it was in Bossey Ecumenical
Institute , Geneva (1987) that he really started specialising in
Inter-religious dialogue, under the guidance of Fr. Daniel Cibotea. It was the
beginning of a long journey into various corners of the world and a dive into
the vast ocean of wisdom in the Holy Scriptures. He will complete three decades
in active Dialogue in 2016.
We would
like to offer him a Festschrift volume on 1st January of 2016 ( during a
specially convened Holy Books Conference at Kottarakkara- 7th in the
intertextuality series.) The title of this book will be " Life is
Heaven Now: Three Fruitful Decades in
Dialogue". As a long- time friend and well wisher of Dr. Karickam, we
request you to kindly contribute an article, in the form of a reflection or a
study in any of the facets of interfaith
Dialogue. It was 20 years ago that Dr. Alexander Mar Thoma Centre for Dialogue
was founded at Kottarakkara, with Dr. Karickam as the founder General
Secretary. He he had the privilege to attend three General Assemblies of WCC (
Canberra, Harare and Port Allegre). He
participated in umpteen Dialogue Conferences in different parts of the globe,
as a true pilgrim counting pebbles on the shores of eternity. He retired as the
Principal of Mar Thoma College, Thiruvalla,
where he was a member of the Faculty of English for about three decades. Ever
since his retirement , he serves as a Global Staff Member of United Religions
Initiative ( URI ) and is currently Executive. Secretary of URI Asia Council.
He founded Karickam International Public School in 2004, which has already become a hub of numerous international
programmes related to education and dialogue.
