MODI SWORN IN AS PRIME MINISTER

Narendra Modi, India's 15th prime minister, took oath on Monday at a ceremony held in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan and attended by the Who's Who of the nation - including political leaders, business honchos, celebrities and leaders of religious faiths - as well as leaders of neighbouring countries.The oath of office and secrecy was administered in Hindi to Modi by President Pranab Mukherjee.There was a certain poignancy to the momentous occasion as the inauguration of a new prime minister happened exactly 50 years after the death of India's first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

Present on the occasion of the change of guard was the outgoing prime minister Manmohan Singh, who remained 10 years at the helm when the general election left the Congress battered and reduced to its lowest tally of 44 seats in the Lok Sabha.A council of ministers, numbering around 45, also took oath.Among the foreign leaders who attended the ceremony at the forecourt of the presidential palace were Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa.Also present were Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan and Bangladesh parliament Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury.Congress president Sonia Gandhi, her son and party vice president Rahul Gandhi and former presidents A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Pratibha Patil were among the over 4,000 people who gathered on the occasion.

ഇന്ത്യയുടെ പതിനഞ്ചാമത്തെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയായി നരേന്ദ്ര മോദി സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞ ചെയ്ത് അധികാരമേറ്റു. രാഷ്ട്രപതി ഭവന്‍ അങ്കണത്തില്‍ നടന്ന പ്രൗഡഗംഭീരമായ ചടങ്ങില്‍ വൈകുന്നേരം 6.10 ന് മോദി രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയായി സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞ ചെയ്തു. രാഷ്ട്രപതി പ്രണബ് മുഖര്‍ജി അദ്ദേഹത്തിനും മന്ത്രിസഭയിലെ മറ്റ് അംഗങ്ങള്‍ക്കും സത്യവാചകം ചൊല്ലിക്കൊടുത്തു. സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞാ ചടങ്ങ് ഒരുമണിക്കൂര്‍ 20 മിനിറ്റ് നീണ്ടു. ഉപരാഷ്ട്രപതി ഹമീദ് അന്‍സാരി, കാവല്‍ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി മന്‍മോഹന്‍ സിങ്, ബംഗ്ലാദേശ് ഒഴികെയുള്ള സാര്‍ക്ക് രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളിലെ തലവന്മാരും അടക്കം ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ട 2500 ഓളം പേരുടെ സാന്നിധ്യത്തിലായിരുന്നു സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞ. ബി.ജെ.പിയുടെ പ്രമുഖ നേതാക്കളായ രാജ്‌നാഥ് സിങ്, സുഷുമ സ്വരാജ്, അരുണ്‍ ജെയ്റ്റ്‌ലി, നിതിന്‍ ഗഡ്കരി, വെങ്കയ്യ നായ്ഡു തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രമുഖരെല്ലാം മന്ത്രിസഭയിലുണ്ട്. 23 പേര്‍ കാബിനറ്റ് മന്ത്രിമാരും 10 പേര്‍ സ്വതന്ത്ര ചുമതലയുള്ള സഹമന്ത്രിമാരുമാണ്. മോദി മന്ത്രിസഭയില്‍ 11 സഹമന്ത്രിമാരുമുണ്ട്.

             10,000 security personnel for Modi swearing-in

 Around 10,000 security personnel will be deployed in and around Rashtrapati Bhavan when Narendra Modi takes oath as India's new prime minister Monday,26th May,2014.The security personnel will be drawn from paramilitary forces as well as the Special Protection Group and the National Security Guard, Delhi Police Joint Commissioner M.K. Meena said Sunday.There will be a four-layered security around the presidential palace, with Delhi Police handling the outer layer, Meena said.
He said prohibitory orders banning the assembly of five or more people had been imposed in New Delhi district which lies in the heart of the capital.The ceremony is scheduled to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan Monday.
