PERUMBAVOOR G. RAVEENDRANATH
          Perumbavoor G. Raveendranath (Malayalam: പെരുമ്പാവൂർ ജി. രവീന്ദ്രനാഥ്) is an Indian musician from Kerala. He is well known as a Carnatic Musician as well as a Music Composer. He lives in Thiruvananthapuram now, though hails from Perumbavoor, Ernakulam. His works always have the deep-rooted carnatic touch in it.He has rendered soulful music to many films in Malayalam such as Innale, Sneham, and Thoovanathumbikal.[2] He won the Kerala State Film Award for the best music director for the Padmarajan directed movie Innale.[3] He teamed up with Yesudas for Tharangani studio to create some of the best devotional albums in Malayalam. Devotional album Thrimadhuram is one of such album.
Received preliminary lessons in Classical Music at the age of six under stalwarts V.K.Sankara Pillai and Perumbavoor Balakrishna Iyer,, disciple of Late G.N.Balasubramania Iyer. In 1976, he joined Tharanganisari School of Music as professor of music. He was there for a year before joining All India Radio, Thiruvananthapuram, in 1977 as music composer. He passed the audition for classical music from the Calicut station. When he joined AIR, his colleagues in AIR includs B. Sasikumar, K. S. Gopalakrishnan, R. Venkitaraman, Mavellikkara Krishnankutty Nair, R. Krishnaswamy, Doraiswami, M. G. Radhakrishnan, Neyyattinkara Vasudevan, S. A. Swamy, K. P. Udayabhanu and S. R. Raju. He had performed carnatic concerts across the country.In the course of three decades has carved out a distinctive niche in the field of classical music and music composition. In addition to performing classical concerts in the prestigious Navarathri Mandapam and Saraswathi Mandapam he is an ‘A’ graded performing artiste of All India Radio. Performed in the National Programme of Music telecast by Doordarshan and honoured by the Chembai Memorial Trust, Awarded the Aatukkal Devi Puraskaram and the Udiyannoor Devi Puraskaram 2013.As a Light Music Composer. He has been awarded the Akashavani Annual National Award for music three times in 1984, 1987 and 1994. Received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director in 1990 for the film ‘Innale’ directed by late Sri.Padmarajan.The Best Music Director for TV Programme (1991) Recipient of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award in 1994 for Light Music.Has procured the Senior Research Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India for the year 2013 in the field of Carnatic Music.
