COTTON
HILL SCHOOL BAGS BEST ENGLISH CLUB AWARD
Government Higher Secondary School for Girls, Cotton Hill, here,
has been adjudged the school with the best English Club by the District Centre
for English, an organisation functioning under the General Education
Department.The award is for the year 2013-14; the selection was made from among
high schools in Thiruvananthapuram revenue district, a press note issued here
said.
The second position went to Government High School, Aruvikkara,
and the third place to Government Model High School, Venganoor. Consolation
prizes were given to AMHS, Thirumala, and Government HS, Paruthippally. The
selection was based on the contributions made by the respective clubs in
furthering the use of English language and activities based on the language in
and around the school.English clubs were found functioning effectively in
schools in the district, the press note claimed.
The clubs generally organise English Fests, exhibitions,
school-level Olympiads, English assembly, discussions and seminars. The final
selection was made on the basis of the reports presented by the conveners of
the respective clubs and spot verifications done at the respective schools.
