രാഷ്ട്രത്തിനു സമര്പ്പിച്ചു
An L.N.G Terminal is a facility at which liquefied natural gas is “regasified” (turned back into a gaseous state) after shipment by sea from the area of production. After a decade-long delay, the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal of the Petronet LNG Limited at Puthuvype is all set to redraw the Though the commercial supply of the fuel from the Petronet LNG Limited at Puthuvype has started in August last year, the official dedication ceremony will take place today.The Petronet LNG Limited at Puthuvype is the first-of-its kind in South India. Though a slew of projects using the LNG are in the anvil, it faces a galaxy of problems ranging from under-utilisation, high price of the fuel, the non-completion of laying of pipelines and difficulty in finding new consumers.‘‘We are also planning to supply the fuel to Sri Lanka and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. If we could find more customers, the terminal will soon attain break-even. Though 505-km pipeline has to be laid through the state to connect the Putuvype terminal with Mangalore and Bangalore, only less than 150 km has been laid so far, and it is a major concern,” said a Petronet LNG official.Apart from providing LNG to industries in the state, the conversion of existing power plants to LNG, new power plants using natural gas, city gas distribution project and conversion of KSRTC buses to CNG mode are envisaged using the fuel. Two vessels Wilenergy and Fuwairit called at Puthuvype to supply fuel to the terminal.
ആഗോളവിപണിയില് പ്രകൃതിവാതകം ന്യായവിലയ്ക്കു ലഭ്യമാക്കാന് ഏഷ്യന് രാജ്യങ്ങള് ഒരുമിച്ചു നില്ക്കണമെന്നു പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ഡോ. മന്മോഹന് സിംഗ്. ഇതിനായി ഇന്ത്യ മുന്കൈയെടുക്കുമെന്നും കൊച്ചി എല്.എന്.ജി. (പ്രകൃതിവാതക) ടെര്മിനല് രാഷ്ട്രത്തിനു സമര്പ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു. പ്രകൃതിവാതക ഇറക്കുമതിയില് ഏഷ്യന് രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങള് മുന്പന്തിയിലാണ്. വാതക ഇറക്കുമതിയില് ന്യായവില സംവിധാനം അനിവാര്യമാണ്. പ്രധാന ഉപഭോക്താവെന്ന നിലയില് ഇതിനായി ഇന്ത്യ ഇടപെടും- മന്മോഹന് സിംഗ് അറിയിച്ചു.
കൊച്ചി എല്.എന്.ജി. ടെര്മിനലിനോടു തനിക്കു പ്രത്യേക മമതയുണ്ടെന്നു പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു. തന്റെ ആദ്യ ഊഴത്തില് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ച പ്രധാന പദ്ധതികളിലൊന്നാണിത്. 4500 കോടി രൂപയുടെ ഈ പദ്ധതി കേരളത്തിന്റെ ബഹുമുഖ വികസനത്തിന് ഊര്ജം പകരും. നിര്ദിഷ്ട ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യന് വ്യവസായ ഇടനാഴിക്ക് ഇതു സഹായകമാകും. കിഴക്കു പടിഞ്ഞാറ് കപ്പല്പാതയില് കൊച്ചി തന്ത്രപ്രധാന സ്ഥാനത്തായതിനാല് ചരക്കു ഗതാഗതത്തെയും ഇതു പരിപോഷിപ്പിക്കുമെന്നു മന്മോഹന് സിംഗ് പറഞ്ഞു.
എല്.എന്.ജി. ടെര്മിനല് പൂര്ണശേഷിയില് പ്രവര്ത്തിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനു നടപടിയെടുക്കണം. പൈപ്പ്ലൈന് സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നതിലെ തടസങ്ങള് താമസംവിന പരിഹരിക്കണം. സിറ്റി ഗ്യാസ് പദ്ധതി കൊച്ചിക്കു പുറമേ കേരളത്തിലെ മറ്റു നഗരങ്ങളിലേക്കും വ്യാപിപ്പിക്കാന് പെട്രോളിയം മന്ത്രാലയവും സംസ്ഥാന സര്ക്കാരും ശ്രദ്ധ ചെലുത്തണമെന്നും പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു. പൈപ്പ് ലൈന് വഴി പ്രകൃതിവാതകം വിതരണം ചെയ്ുന്ന കാര്യയത്തില് കേരളത്തില് നിലനില്ക്കുന്ന ആശങ്ക അസ്ഥാനത്താണെന്നു ചടങ്ങില് അധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ച പെട്രോളിയം മന്ത്രി വീരപ്പമൊയ്ലി പറഞ്ഞു. വാതകപൈപ്പ്ലൈന് സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നതിലെ തടസങ്ങള് ഉടന് നീക്കുമെന്നു മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ഉമ്മന് ചാണ്ടി പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിക്ക് ഉറപ്പുനല്കി.
എല്.എന്.ജിയുടെ പരമാവധി ഉപയോഗം സാധ്യമാക്കാന് നടപടിയുമെടുക്കുമെന്നും മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു. ഗവര്ണര് നിഖില് കുമാര്, കേന്ദ്രമന്ത്രി കെ.വി. തോമസ്, സഹമന്ത്രി പനബകലക്ഷ്മി, മന്ത്രി കെ. ബാബു, പെട്രോളിയം സെക്രട്ടറിയും പെട്രോനെറ്റ് ചെയര്മാനുമായ വിവേക് റായ്, പെട്രോനെറ്റ് സി.എം.ഡി. എ.കെ. ബല്യാന് എന്നിവരും പങ്കെടുത്തു.
