RICH TRIBUTES PAID TO
MUTHUSWAMI DIKSHITAR

As part of the 178th death anniversary celebrations of Muthuswami Dikshitar, one of the Musical Trinity of  music, music students remembered the renowed singer and paid rich tributes. A guruguha musical fest was organised during the platinum jubilee celebration of Sri Guruguha Vidyalam at the Kolkata Mysore Hall.Dikshitar's Tiruvarur kritis were rendered at the function including a rich repertoire of Thyagaraja keerthanas (the main deity of Tiruvavur), Kamalamba Navavarana Kritis, Nilotpalamba vibhakti Krithis, Tiruvarur - Panchalinga kritis, Navagraha kritis among others.

A sangeetha kutcheri by Vivek Sadasivam was also held during the occasion accompanied by Sarada Murali in violin and Mandapaga Ravi in Mridangam. Vivek Dikshitar's not-so-significant `Uchistha ganapathavu' kriti and `Meenakshi memutham' were also rendered. The kutcheri concluded with the recital of `Valli devasenapathe' written by Anandakrishna Iyer, founder of Guruguha Gana vidyalayam. Veda pandit L Ramaswamy released a souvenir at the function. Principal of Gana Vidyalaya in Kolkata A Srividhya was also felicitated.
