Yesudas inaugurated the Raja Rajashekhara Smriti Mandapam near Valiyakoickal Sastha Temple at Pandalam on Sunday.The memorial was constructed at a cost of Rs.6 lakh by the Palace Welfare Society (PWS) at Pandalam, in memory of Raja Rajashekhara Varma, believed to be the foster father of Lord Ayyappa.
             Yesudas also unveiled a granite sculpture depicting the legendary sighting of the baby boy, Manikanta, on the banks of the Pampa by Raja Rajashekhara Varma, king of the Pandalam kingdom.The sculpture was made by sculptor Thattavila Raju Ratnam of Chengannur.Revathinaal P.Ramavarma Raja, eldest male member of the erstwhile Pandalam royal family, delivered the benedictory speech. B.Gireeshkumar Varma, PWS president, presided over the function. P. Ramavarma Raja, PWS general secretary, and P.G. Sasikumar Varma, Pandalam Palace Managing Committee president, spoke.
