TRIBUTE PAID TO ASTHAVAIDYAN VAIDYAMADHAM CHERIA NARAYANAN NAMBOODIRI
 
Ayurveda physician Asthavaidyan Vaidyamadham Cheria Narayanan Namboodiri, 84, died on  October,2013.He was admitted to a private hospital here following respiratory diseases since October 1.Taking forward the Mezhathur’s stamp in ayurveda treatment, Cheriya Narayanan Namboodiri, chief physician of Mezhathur Vaidyamadham, was said to have inherited the skills and knowledge of his grandfather Valia Narayanan Namboodiri, an authority in ayurveda.It is the ayurvedic expertise that made Mezhathur a venerable name in Kerala.
Cheriya Narayanan Namboodiri was awarded the Ayurveda Puraskaram in 2009. Besides being an Ashtavaidyan (expert in all branches of ayurveda) and being known for treatment for rheumatism, he was also known for his Malayalam translations of some ayurveda texts. A trust established in memory of his grandfather had developed a treatment regime for cancer.
