ORTHODOX ANNUAL YOUTH CAMP AT BANGLORE
About 120 MGOCSM & OCYM of Bengaluru Diocese experienced a
successful spiritual fellowship at their annual youth camp called Yovela-2013
from October 11 to 14. The theme for this year’s camp was “Entrusting with the
ministry of reconciliation” from 2 Corinthians 5:19.
Diocesan Metropolitan Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim
who was one of the speakers at the camp along with Philip Thomas Cor-Episcopa
from Malaysia, Fr Philip Kuruvila from Nagpur, and Elizabeth, said Yovela 2013
really touched and transformed the lives of many young people with all
participants confessing and taking part in the Holy Eucharist
An elated Mar Seraphim points out that the
youths have registered their names for various ministries of the Bengaluru
Diocese namely for prayers, music, skits and others. His Grace was confident
that they were going to serve the Lord and His Church as ‘self appointed
ambassadors.’
The three-day camp was held at the scenic
Nandhi Hills located about 4,850 feet above sea level which made Dr Mar
Seraphim to remark that the camp will provide a ‘mountain top experience’ to
all the participants. And it turned out to be just that.
Philip Thomas Cor-Episcopa, Fr Philip
Kuruvilla and Elizabeth effectively communicated their messages and cleared the
doubts of the participants.
Fr Bejoy Zachariah’s Gregorian worship helped
the participants to meditate and analyze their life. The choir also helped the
members to sing joyfully. The Glorious Promise Land provided and good felicity
for an awesome retreat atmosphere. The camp saw various activities like Bible
study, Confession, Skit, Music, Trekking, Camp fire and Discussion sessions. The Metropolitan praised the leadership of
Roni and other Yovela committee members toiled hard. “It is our responsibility
to continue the journey with our Lord. He promised us that He will always be
with us,” concludes Dr Mar Seraphim.
