ORTHODOX ANNUAL YOUTH CAMP AT BANGLOREYUVELA-2013


About 120 MGOCSM & OCYM of Bengaluru Diocese experienced a successful spiritual fellowship at their annual youth camp called Yovela-2013 from October 11 to 14. The theme for this year’s camp was “Entrusting with the ministry of reconciliation” from 2 Corinthians 5:19.
Diocesan Metropolitan Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim who was one of the speakers at the camp along with Philip Thomas Cor-Episcopa from Malaysia, Fr Philip Kuruvila from Nagpur, and Elizabeth, said Yovela 2013 really touched and transformed the lives of many young people with all participants confessing and taking part in the Holy Eucharist
An elated Mar Seraphim points out that the youths have registered their names for various ministries of the Bengaluru Diocese namely for prayers, music, skits and others. His Grace was confident that they were going to serve the Lord and His Church as ‘self appointed ambassadors.’
The three-day camp was held at the scenic Nandhi Hills located about 4,850 feet above sea level which made Dr Mar Seraphim to remark that the camp will provide a ‘mountain top experience’ to all the participants. And it turned out to be just that.
Philip Thomas Cor-Episcopa, Fr Philip Kuruvilla and Elizabeth effectively communicated their messages and cleared the doubts of the participants.
Fr Bejoy Zachariah’s Gregorian worship helped the participants to meditate and analyze their life. The choir also helped the members to sing joyfully. The Glorious Promise Land provided and good felicity for an awesome retreat atmosphere. The camp saw various activities like Bible study, Confession, Skit, Music, Trekking, Camp fire and Discussion sessions.The Metropolitan praised the leadership of Roni and other Yovela committee members toiled hard. “It is our responsibility to continue the journey with our Lord. He promised us that He will always be with us,” concludes Dr Mar Seraphim.
