AN ARABIC FAMILY IN MALAYALAM

There is an Arabi family in Kerala not by birth but for their love towards Arabic language. In the family of late Kottummal Hyder Moulavi, founder leader of Islahi movement and Islamic scholar, his 10 sons and 5 of their spouses are Arabi teachers. Dr Jamaludhin Farooqui, state general secretary of Kerala Jammiyathul Ulama and head of Arabic department in Muslim Orphanage, Arts and Science College in Muttil and his siblings are carrying forward their father's love for the language. Jamaludhin is the second son of Hyder Moulavi and his elder sister Mymoona retried as Arabic teacher from Mepadi St Joseph School. Mymoona is first Muslim girl from Muttil to pass SSLC. 

The other 9 are working as teachers. Other siblings are Jameel, working in Padichira AUP school, Abdul Bari, WMO, Muttil, Bushara, GAS, Vythiri, Khaleel Rahman, GUP Kaniyampatta, Salih, GUP Beenachi, Saniya, GUP Paruthipara, Abdul Salam, HIM UP Vythiri, Sahal, MCF school, Kalpetta are Arabic teachers in their respective schools. Among them Bushara, Khaleel , Salih and Sahal have PG in Arabic. Jamaludhin has written many books in Arabic on various subjects and also bagged MM Gani award from Calicut University for best teacher in 2009-10. He is also acting as board of studies member of Calicut and Kannur varsities. His wife Mymoona is a Arabic teacher in Govt HSS Meenangadi, his brother-in-law Koya is a retired Arabic teacher. Sainaba, wife of Abdul Bari and Musthafa, husband of Bushara and Iman Shukhi husband of Saniya are also Arabic teachers. Though all of them selected Arabic as their major, their medium of education was Malayalam.
