HYDERABAD SCIENTIST TO RECEIVE AWARD FOR HYBRID RICE TECHNOLOGY


Hyderabad: The director of city-based Directorate of Rice Research (DRR), B C Viraktamath, along with his three colleagues, has been chosen for this year's Hari Om Ashram Award for significant contributions to hybrid rice technology. Viraktamath has been chosen for the award along with his colleagues - M S Ramesha, R M Sundaram and A S Hariprasad. Senior scientist (biotechnology) Sheshu Madhav is the recipient of Lal Bahadur Shastri Young Scientist Award for his outstanding contribution to blast disease and molecular aspects of quality characters of rice. The awards will be presented by the President on July 16 in New Delhi as a part of 85th foundation day celebration of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
