                 LEISHMANIASIS DISEASE
                           HITS KERALA
, a kind of fever, widely reported in the north-east states has reached Kerala shores. One died due to the severity of the new found disease in Kozhikode district.Migrant labourers from Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bangal are the carrier of leishmaniasis. The fever has claimed many lives in these states. Experts in Health department has warned of spreading the disease through migrant labourers in the state. They have also identified 'Sand Fly', a certain species that can transmit the virus through bite, in Thiruvananathapuram, Kozhikode and Eranakulam.A native in Kozhikode who worked as a n agent for providing migrant labourers have died two months ago due to the disease. Main symptom of leishmaniasis is chronic fever that may continue for two weeks to two months.
