INVESTIGATION WING TO PROBE CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN
State
government plans to form a Special Investigation Wing to probe crimes against
women, State Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said Monday,23rd
December,2012.The wing with five woman IPS officers would be set up soon,
Radhakrishnan told reporters here. A decision to set up fast track courts for
speedy trial of cases of crime against women would be taken after getting
necessary clearance from the High Court and state cabinet, he said.
On the crime rate in the state, Radhakrishnan said though the total has come down in 2012 when compared to the number of crimes in 2010, cases of attack against women had shown an increase.He said 597 incidents of crimes against women were reported in 2010 while it has gone up to 825 in 2012.
