Eminent
Literary Critic and author Prof M Leelavathi was conferred with 11th
Mathrubhumi Puraskaram at a function here this evening.Jnanpitham Award
Winner Mahaswetha Devi presented the award, carrying a purse of Rs two lakh,
citiation and plaque at the function presided over by former Union Minister and
Mathrubhumi Chairman and Managing Director M P Veerendra Kumar.The award
carries a purse of Rs 2 lakh, plaque designed by MV Devan and certificate.
Mathrubhumi editor M Kesavameneon draped ponnada to Leelavathy. Dr MM Basheer,
Prof Kalpetta Narayanan spoke. M Lelevathy thanked all her teachers who made
her stand in this position. Mathrubhumi managing editor PV Chandran welcomed
the gathering, Books manager K Noushadh said vote of thanks. The function was
concluded with Gazal night by singer Gayathri.
Hailing Dr Leelavathi for her invaluable contribution to literature, Veeredra Kumar said by selecting her for the award the judging committee enriched the Matrhubhumi Puraskaram.Some of the earlier winners of the award were well literary figures Thikkodiyan, M V Devan, Pala Narayanan Nair, Akkitham, Kovilanv Vishnu Narayanan Namboodiri and Sukumar Azhikkode.
