TRIBUTE PAID TO IGNATIUS KAKKANADAN

ഇഗ്നേഷ്യസ് കാക്കനാടന്‍ ഓര്‍മ്മകളിലേക്ക് വിടവാങ്ങി (Writer, translator and journalist Ignatius Kakkanadan passed away at a private hospital  on30th October, Tuesday night. He was 83. He is survived by wife, Mariyakutty, and nine children.Ignatius is the elder brother of noted Malayalam novelist the late Kakkanadan. The funeral rites will be held here on Thursday.Ignatius, known to his vast circle of friends as Kunju, entered journalism through the Communist Party of India organ Janayugam . He had also served as the editorial board member of that newspaper.Afterwards, on recommendation from CPI leader C. Achutha Menon, he had served in the Malayalam wing of the erstwhile East Germany Embassy. Later he even served a stint with the Russian Embassy. He had served as president and secretary of the Kollam Press Club.Ignatius was also editor of the Malayalam magazine Soviet Nadu . He is well known for his Malayalam translations of the works of Babsaheb Ambedkar. He had been ailing for some time and the end came at a private hospital )

2012 ഒക്ടോബര്‍  30 ചൊവ്വാഴ്ച അന്തരിച്ച ഇഗ്നേഷ്യസ് കാക്കനാടന്റെ സംസ്‌കാരം തൃക്കരുവയിലുള്ള പെരിനാട് മാര്‍ത്തോമാപള്ളി സെമിത്തേരിയില്‍ നടന്നു.വൈകിട്ട് മൂന്നുമണിയോടെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭൗതികശരീരവുമായി അഞ്ചാലുംമൂട് വെട്ടുവിള 'പൗര്‍ണമി'യില്‍ നിന്ന് വിലാപയാത്ര ആരംഭിച്ചു. അഞ്ചാലുംമൂട്, കാഞ്ഞിരംകുഴി, ഇഞ്ചവിള വഴിയാണ് പള്ളിസെമിത്തേരിയില്‍ എത്തിയത്. കൊല്ലത്തെ സ്വകാര്യആശുപത്രി മോര്‍ച്ചറിയില്‍ നിന്നും ബുധനാഴ്ച ഉച്ചയ്ക്കാണ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭൗതികശരീരം വെട്ടുവിള റോഡിലുള്ള പൗര്‍ണ്ണമിയില്‍ കൊണ്ടുവന്നത്. ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ നാനാതുറകളിലുള്ള നിരവധി പേര്‍ പരേതന് അന്ത്യോപചാരമര്‍പ്പിക്കാനെത്തി. സിപിഐ സംസ്ഥാന സെകട്ടറി പന്ന്യന്‍ രവീന്ദ്രന്‍, അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് സെക്രട്ടറി കെ പ്രകാശ്ബാബു, ജില്ലാസെക്രട്ടറി ആര്‍ രാമചന്ദ്രന്‍, തെങ്ങമം ബാലകൃഷ്ണന്‍, ജനയുഗം എഡിറ്റര്‍ ബിനോയ്‌വിശ്വം, എക്‌സിക്യൂട്ടീവ് എഡിറ്റര്‍ രാജാജി മാത്യു തോമസ്, മേയര്‍ പ്രസന്ന ഏണസ്റ്റ്, ഡെപ്യൂട്ടിമേയര്‍ അഡ്വ. ജി ലാലു, ജെ ചിഞ്ചുറാണി, ഡി സുകേശന്‍, എ ഫസലുദ്ദീന്‍ ഹക്ക്, ഡോ. ബി എ രാജാകൃഷ്ണന്‍, ജെ ഉദയഭാനു, അഡ്വ. ആര്‍ സേതുനാഥ്, ജില്ലാപഞ്ചായത്തംഗം ബി ജയന്തി, പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റ് എ അമാന്‍, എസ് ബിജു കുമാര്‍, പ്രസ്‌ക്ലബ്ബ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് രാജുമാത്യു, സെക്രട്ടറി ബിജു പാപ്പച്ചന്‍, ബുക്ക്മാര്‍ക്ക് സെക്രട്ടറി ബാബു കുഴിമറ്റം, പാറങ്കോട് ഗോപിനാഥന്‍നായര്‍, സി ആര്‍ രാമചന്ദ്രന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവര്‍ ആദരാഞ്ജലിഅര്‍പ്പിക്കാന്‍ എത്തിയിരുന്നു. പ്രൊഫ്. ജോണ്‍ കുരാക്കാര്‍
